Thought about this for years and tried to make my marriage work and divorce is final Friday so I am going to head to Vegas and live out my life long dream to live there.....I still plan to drive over the road and have several jobs lined up but hey I need info out there if anyone can help me. Right now plan in to stay at a Budget Suites for around 300 per week until I find a place. I would like to know the safer area to live and the best poker rooms to play in. I know the strip pretty well but downtown and out near Henderson, Sams Town, South Point and Red Rocks not so much, reviews I read said South Pointe is a bad poker room. I know parking now cost at all the strip hotels so maybe I can find a better spot.
Sixfive tells me Dr Feelgood lives out here I would truly sppreciate the help. I am coming out with my Golf Clubs, my car, my clothes, and all my truck gear. Excited but nervous I will only know a few of the pro bowlers that live in the area and its been years since I spoke with any of them.
Thank you all

Trooper stayed at Desert Manor downtown for a couple years. I can't imagine he paid more than about $1000 a month and it's gated, I think. He never had any problems.

Good luck! Why not look for a studio/1 bedroom apt and call it your own? You can go to Ikea and for $500-$1000 you can buy a futon-bed and anything you can possibly need. Nothing like a place called home. Wish you lots of luck!

Las Vegas
Vegas is booming again. Many variables to consider. As far as poker rooms go, i cannot help you, Video Poker YES, poker rooms no. I'm not good with people I like my solitude.

As far as areas to live....I used to live in the Lone Mountain area, and absolutely loved it. It was out by the mountains in the NorthWest portion of Vegas. Quiet. Clean. Easy access to highway and airport. But if yo want Strip access or Henderson it is much farther. A quick 9 minute ride to my favorite casino, Red Rock.

I now live in an area called section 10. My wife found me a desert oasis and I'm never leaving (until she kicks me out), it is Charleston and Buffalo area. Nice houses, big lots etc---but all houses. My daughter just moved out to a nice area right across from a HUGE park (they have 100s out here). Washington and Cimmerron area. She has a very nice 2 br 2 ba apartment and pays 935/mo....965 with sewer and water. We housed another girl for years who also moved in close proximity to my daughter, her apt is just as nice but a 1br 1 ba and she is about 800/month. Both good areas. Easy access to highways, Strip access is about 15-20 minutes from there. Much busier area than Lone Mountain area but everything you could want is 5-10 mins away.

If you are friendly, you'll meet a lot of people. I am not...I have few friends, but not many people can take my sense of humor and I'm ok with it. All I need is my Beats, a 100% poker machine, some blueberry stoli and 400 bucks a day (to lose) and I'm fine!!!

Best of luck, get my email from jack and if I can help you further or you have any other specific questions, let me know!!

Hammer thanks for all that info they are about same price as well look nearly identical

Not identical at all... Holiday is gated with security The suites are over run with marginal people... U may find a gun in your face some night when u are going out for an In/Out burger.. Check out both before you rent but as i said its been 10 years . Took 1 look at Desert Manor dowtown once and ran away quickly . but the whole area has probably improved in 10 years so may be ok now Also check Craigs list and poss roomate situation !!!. I did some rooming withn the Headliner at the Crazy Horse. She ran into a young man that signed a contract with the san diego padres and the rest was history. Also join a health club......Show Girls Mens Club Hotties werk out a lot

Yes I made the move, not sure how long I will be here though I am on Boulder Hwy and its ok during the day but nighttime the shit hits the fan. In my first week here on the same block I live in there was a stabbing and a shooting. I do live in a gated community with 24 hour security. Gambling a lot baseball mainly but playing poker as well Aria seems to be my favorite place and South Point is not bad right now because of the bowlers but after they leave I am sure it wont be as soft. A lot of the same locals are here everyday and it did not take long to spot them....they definitely play together in groups it kind of sucks. Sams Town is the closest place to play sports Poker is awful there and I like the Nugget downtown....Circa is like soft opening this week but that place is sweet.....

Boulder highway can mean a lot of things, but I usually think sketchy 😬. Stay safe there! I always loved playing 2/5 at the Aria. That game and the Wynn game are definite the best.

Circa was just a hole in the ground when I was there a few days ago.
