I have been lurking at this forum for quite a while now and I feel it?s time to step forward and contribute.

This forum is the best hockey spot on the web. Each day when I fire up the computer this site is my first stop.

Like Sports Junkie said it?s been a weird few days here. Now you are possibly losing a couple important members of the MJ?s hockey family.

I have a proposition. I would like to sponsor a small invitational contest for the regulars who post here and make this forum so great.
I will put up $150.00 US as a prize for the winner. Of course there is a small catch, I?m pretty busy and I don?t have a lot of expertise running contests.
If Mr. Mo is interested in running it with his system that he already has in place it could run like the POD thread except with limits on the amount of cappers. Perhaps something about a couple weeks or a month long with only Senior Members invited. As I am offering this in gratitude to the regulars who make this place work so well it seems fair to limit the contest to the senior fellas. I would support the contest and also play if invited but I would not be able to win.

Mr. Mo your thread is one of the most prominent features of this forum I hope my sponsorship offer interests you. It would be your show and your rules.

What do you say, let?s keep this place the premier forum that it?s been.

Rich

Just my opinion but I would urge everybody to take about two or three minutes each day (depending on your connection speed) and post your plays at www.bestbettor.com. I think with the consensus feature there it would be a great way for novice hockey players to get a read on what folks are playing each night. Certainly the consensus is usually too chalky for my tastes but I think it would help a lot of people.

As far as contests go, I personally shy away from them because to me handicapping is about maximizing your own bankroll, not comparing your results to other people in an environment with peculiar rules. Just my opinon there.

Thats something new and interesting.

Is that u Jack under allwrong:)

No matter what this sound like fun.

The only thing is that we are putting pressure on Mr mo and in that sense i dont like it. The guy has made a decision and we should respect it.
If Mr mo wants to do it , then ok but thats his decision and no pressure.

The main point is that I think we must get better from what happend today.
We can not afford to loose 2 key members(BIG) just like that.
Most of us have been in here for a while and shit hapens lets turn this around the right way.

We always said we were family its time to act like one.

I'm all for it.
If i win(which wont happend:) ) i'll give 1/2 of it to mr mo for running the contest.

Mr mo what ever your decision i repsect it.

I agree 100% Nick, I cap with one objective only, the man is the only person I want to beat.
This was just the best idea I could come up with to support this fine group and give the guys a little fun.

i dont really know where to start with this--let's see... as far as nick's comment about going to bestbettor, well, i shy away alittle from there, b/c you don't actually know who is on that particular play. it worries me, if this is a strong play as a concensus or just something everyone and their mom jumped on based on a couple of people. now that we can see how many views there are, i guess i just don't know how many DIFFERENT people access this site. b/c that is a huge thing and also who is accessing it, jimmy the greek, the vegas resident for 50 yrs or bobby douglass, an 18 yr old frosh at prairie view A&M. at least who is making consensus wagers.

i think it is quite noble of you to offer this and there are at least 20 people above me who post more meaningful things than i do(which are winners) but i just think the whole purpose behind this place is to be a family and provide HELP to one another, namely info or picks if it is one of the big boys. other than that, i dont think you owe anyone anything, there is so much out there, hit the net, find something joe blow doesnt know about---

but let me totally backtrack and say once again i would never participate(even as a senior member, i dont post plays) but i think your have a big heart...

You are kind,I will cotinue the POD

My idea for the prize ,will be,to offer some incentive to
the Leader of the first Half, and to the overall leader at the
end of the season.

Have a chat with MJ

If I may say something. I don't like this proposition at all. I wouldn't like to see senior members to compete each other, cause this could motivated someone to stop post infos, insights etc. IMO, everyone here can make a lot more from their bookie. MJ T-shirt is great reward for hot cappers.

here's my note to MJ

I am serious about offering up the 150.00 prize for a hockey capping contest.
My motivation was to support a great group and to galvanize the group away from some of the distractions that have come into the hockey forum as of late. It seems the camp is somewhat divided on if a contest with a money prize is a good idea.
If you have any suggestions I'm all ears.

Any comments are welcome.

My intention is not to be disruptive and possibly create splits in the group.
I also don't want to create a ton of work for anybody (myself included).
