Wife and I are going to spend three days in Mount Rainier a few days before a conference in Seattle in a few weeks. Has anyone visited the park? We plan on going for a few hiking excursions, nothing too serious..... Is there anything we "must" see while there? Or in the surrounding area. We visit Seattle every year at this time and have never ventured out of the city. Any Suggestions?

The casinos on the Indian Reservations makes for a good suggestion in a gambling forum, but I am guessing you have already found those before.

used to live in Seattle in teens.

Only went up the mountain and park once.

When the mountain is covered with clouds ( 89%)
it is hard to see its beauty or to see outward if you are on the mountain.

It is very steep and a long drive to get up there.

Bring a good cold weather jacket and sweaters because if you get out it is damn cold !

The park is not much to talk about , just driving up and down. Do not remember even getting into any gift shops.

You can only go so far then you have to get out and walk.

Man it rains in Seattle almost everydat. I remember that much. Weather comes in from Puget Sound and creates havoc.

We plan with winter gear as it is cold up there even at the end of july.

At least it is the Non rain season when we go, and with that said, probably a 40% chance of rain:142smilie

It is an amazing part of the country as it is so close to Alaska. I do know once we are done roughing it out there. We both look forward to eating dinner at Metropolitan grill.......a 5 Star Steak restaurant that serves bone in Kobe filets..........My mouth is watering just thinking about that. :toast:

Is a welcomed retrieve going from 100 degrees and high humidity to the 70's each year.
