Thought I would share a few thoughts here since boxlocks and a few of us have parlays going with Mundine

This fight is Wednesday in Australia. It is a 10 round bout, and I believe it will be fought at Middleweight.

There is an article today on fightnews regarding a rematch with Mundine and Danny Green...it seems the Australian press (justifiably) aren't giving Taylor any chance here.

Me neither....he is 36 and has been stopped in 5 of his 6 losses. I am still trying to figure out how the hell he went the distance with Arthur Abraham in Germany. His only points defeat.

In 2006, Taylor lost 3 in a row (including being stopped by the weak-hitting Joval). Since then he has fought 7 bums in a row. No one of note.

I am on Mundine and I am leaning toward the under 9.5 at +180.

My only worry is Mundine coming down to 160 and the rumors of a hip injury.

Anyone else think Mundine can get a KO here?

I'm on the under for a max bet +240. Supposededly Taylor and AA were sparring mates at some time and AA carried him. Taylor fought to survive. Taylor and Mundine have a genuine grudge so I expect Taylor to attempt to make a fight of it.I believe Taylor gets schooled and kod. I agree about the weight and the hip...my only worries but I still think Taylor gets ktfo. I will be absolutely shocked if Taylor finds a way to win this.

An article on Taylor's training:

http://www.illawarramercury.com.au/...r-made-even-stronger-for-mundine/1428925.aspx

My favorite line from his trainer:

"Shannan's punching so much harder. At the end of the sessions I have to sit down for a bit to get my breath.

"He's dropped me a few times and said, 'C'mon Brad, get up, suck it up', and I say, 'I'm trying to suck it up'. But he's punching so much harder now. It's unbelievable."

:mj07:

We shall see.

one more article on Mundine's weight. This is indeed the first time he will be at 160.

i wouldn't be surprised if the ref let shannon survive the distance even if he receives a hellacious beating

isn't he kind of an aussie working man hero?

taylor shouldn't even be fighting, he doesn't even have fumes left

I shouldnt have strted another thread ghost:shrug: Hope you made some dough on this despite not hitting the under. I thought the under was a good bet. I could have scalped to make a few guaranteed bucks but I left it alone thinking he SHOULD get an old shot fighter like Taylor out of there.

Yep...Mundine UD was the most logical choice
No problem here either Romi..we're in the same boat
SMALL loss on the under
WINNER on Mundine straight, and used him in several ongoing parlays (at -800)

I started to worry about our Under bet yesterday. Money was pooring in on it, but most of the Australians fans on the boxing boards were picking Mundine by UD.
Guess the original line the oddsmakers put up (heavily favoring the over) was an accurate one.

Another glorified sparring session for Mundine. Not exactly a risk taker this cat.

Thanks Romi for posting the round by round
I'm very curious to see the fight, in particular round 9.

It is becoming abundantly clear that Mundine, while skilled and speedy, has a BAD chin. Ottke put him to sleep, and Crazy Kim had him SHOOK something awful.

If he is fighting Sturm next, he is picking the right guy at middleweight. I imagine Abraham would have WAY too much power for him.

Congrats to Boxlocks, who I believe is now 1 fight away (Glen Johnson) from hitting the BIG TIME parlay he posted.

Fight Review:
my favorite line from Taylor:
"He's slick," he said.
"I hope he uses me for sparring."

:mj07:

this guy really needs a paycheck !

:mj07: Too funny. After all the trash talking over the past few weeks and now he wants to be his sparring partner. I read Taylor made all of 30k on the fight and he's flat broke. Taylor needs to go see "The Wrestler". It's a mirror image of his life.

For that matter, it really is a good movie and I highly suggest it. I'm not a Mickey Rourke fan but it's a great flick and at the very least you get to see Marissa Tomei topless...:0corn worth the ticket alone.

I was on the under too. Mundine is a good fighter but he will have his hands full with Sturm especially in germany.

The wrestler is a great movie. Everything what rocky 6 should have been and never was.
