well, here is why Dr. Freeze and others have a problem with a lack of decency..
First, we all have a desire to explore this area of life...and kids especially, have this desire as we all have been there.
If this stuff is freely available, it does not matter what a parent does, a kid will do what a kid will do. You are fooling yourself if you think that they will not and live in a different reality than the rest of us.
The mind is the most powerful sex object and is very vulnerable to becoming overtaken as it is not ever fulfilled sexually -- only temporarily that thirst is quenched. Again, I dont think any of this is debatable. Some of us are unable to control these urges and begin to explore more and more perverted ways to attempt to fulfill these desires. Eventually, in a lot of people this leads to child molestation, rape, and murder.
Dr. Freeze and Mr. Falwell, although not agreeing on everything, are in firm agreement on the need for decency in society.
It has been around since the inception of this country, so it is unlikely, despite what the ACLU says, that it is unconstitutional. I really doubt the founders had any clue it could ever be this bad and would be horrified to find how freedom of the press was interpreted to protect vile pornography and this effect on the minds of our citizenry.
I really do not see how any of this relates to parenting. That is absolutely absurd to bring that up and again you are not living in any kind of reality to even bring up what a parent can or cannot do to keep a kid's mind clean as long as possible so that he can mature enough to be able to handle his sexual urges normally/appropriately/with more discretion.
