Hey guys,

Been busting my ass the last couple days and have had no time to even look at the games. Today I have 2 ten-fourteeen page papers (on Business Ethics and Mutual Funds) that I have been working on all night. They are due next week (about 1/4 done right now). I wanted to work on this stuff today during the day, but I had to go to a graduate seminar and meet the second richest man in the United States (well I don't know if it's second anymore) but I met Warren Buffett with a bunch of other graduate students and have to write another paper on that too (I'm swamped). Anyway, I think that there are a number of very intelligent people on this forum and if you have any insight on these 2 topics (mutual funds, business ethics) I would sure appreciate it. BTW, I got an A on my paper that I wrote on gambling and I used ALOT of the information that you guys provided me with on this forum. I really appreciated all the help that I got, if you think you might be able to help out with either of these two topics please reply.

I will not say anything about Business ethics as you could probably write a 140 page report ++++.

as for mutual funds you could maybe look into

1.how the mutual fund industry has grown. 2.The regulations on the industry.
3. if index funds, or stocks that track an index outperform the average fund ie. spiders, QQQs,etc.
4. are more investors creating their own portfolios with discount brokers.
5. how does the funds do a year later after you see them being advertised on TV or in the paper.
6. can shareholders achieve better results through (dividend reinvestment stock plans). Sharebuilder and buyandhold offer an investor to invest for only $2.99 an order. of coarse you cannot name your price. these are geared to smaller investors who want to buy a stock over time. you can do it for free, my shareclub often exchanges stocks.
7. the myth that small investors run for the hills at the first sign of trouble.

I would discuss if the market is much more focussed on short term earnings and revenue, since mutual funds live or die on performance.

just some ideas. wish you the best on it.
thanks

note owned one share of Berkshire B (cheap one) was going to buy more when it went up, never did. I sold it, broke even after two years. I like the annual report Warren can write, but I believe going forward SP 500 will outperform Berkshire stock (over the next 5 years).

thanks
