Oklahoma (+104) at pinnacle
You might remember me as the misguided poster who made his largest wager in 12 years on the Browns to beat the Steelers back in Week 10. That didn't turn out so good. As a result, I've laid fairly low, making small to medium wagers in an effort to build up my bankroll again. Belated thanks to Gman and his red-hot college selections over the last month or so for aiding my cause. Anyway, nearly all of that scratch has been firmly placed on the Sooners.
This game will be analyzed to death by everyone. But here's my quick reasoning. I'm sure people will find holes in this, but I feel strongly about my convictions.
OU has the better offensive line, which includes two all-americans. The OL is always a huge factor in these title games, especially when you consider the QB, RB and WR play is probably a wash between these teams.
I can't get over Cal getting dominated by Texas Tech. The Cal QB completed 23 passes in a row vs. USC.
I also recall how much trouble USC had stopping Notre Dame's run game in the first half of their match-up late in the year.
The biggest knock on OU is that Ok. St. and A&M moved the ball very well against them. But star DB Antonio Perkins missed those games. He is back and I think that makes a major difference here.
I DO believe in the Heisman Trophy distraction.
I think OU will play it's best game of the season. And even if USC, which don't get me wrong is a fabulous team, plays well. It won't be enough.
I hate predicting scores, but I'll go OU 31, USC 23.
