Well, It happened again.
It still hasnt set in that My team lost in the first round again.
But unlike last year where I was devastated that KU exited VERY early, this year Im just left shaking my head

But, this leads me into my first point.
Even though KU was upset and lost to a lesser team tonight, being a 4 seed is something I am very proud of them for. KU is my team and it kills me to say it but I thought betting against this group of fresh faces would be a good strategy at the beginning of year. And it was, luckily I quit doing it because these guys really improved and came together. Heck these kids even won the Big 12 championship!!! Who would have thought that.

So i am not depressed, in fact, I am proud of these guys because I seriously didn't even think they would make it to tourney before season started.

My second point is that even though it hurts, LOSING 1st Round was the BEST thing that could have happened to us. It will almost ensure that all the talented fesh/soph stay around next year (think nova last year) that might not have happened if they made a serious run in this tourney (think UNC last year).

Besides UNC, they are the most talented young squad in basketball and mix in some great recruits by self and these guys will be a powerhouse next year ready to make a title run. They will also be humbled too, because you know the headlines will be out in Febuary as a potential #1 seed KU lose in the first round again.

These young guys tasted defeat and tasted upset. Something the last group of seniors never tasted, because even though they were defeated they always lived up to their promise except for last year where they looked extremely talented but lathargic.

KU had a very great, succesful year and because of the upset are put in a great position to win the NC next year. So Jayhawk brothers dont even sweat it, it was the best thing that could have happened to us. Congratulate our Jayhawks on a very good, rewarding season.

No offense but rewarding seasons are ones where they hang banners.
Especially at a program like Kansas
You cant applaud a team that has lost in the first round the last two years to the likes of Bucknell and Bradley....
This happens at a "True" basketball school (which KU is certainly one of them) lets say Kentucky, Duke Indiana, NC no one is saying this is the best thing that could happen to them..and lets sit back and applaud them.
Sorry but the name Kansas does not allow for that.
It was another bad season.. nothing else

BLG, thought the same thing when the buzzer sounded.

The first words out of my mouth were, "Well at least Rush is coming back next year." Well the words were slurred and there were a couple expletives in there, but you get the point.

After this team started 3-4, I would have been content to know that we would make the NCAA Tournament, much less turn into the hottest team in the nation for about a month.

They crapped the bed, here. I think the young guys bought into the hype. A whole bunch of people picked them in the Final 4, including Sports Illulstrated, some guys from espn.com, etc. and I think these guys thought they could walk into the gym and get a win without breaking a sweat against Bradley.

Anyhow, there is always next year.

Have to admit I was wrong...I thought Pitt would beat them!

As I said a while back, theya re gonna be tough..NEXT year. But at this point one has to really question Bill Self as a tournament coach.

North Carolina, Kansas, Ohio State, Memphis (if most of their players come back) will be the top 4 teams IMO next year. I am a Kansas fan as well and this will leave a bitter taste in my mouth. However, these kids overachieved for a 15-1 stretch coming into the Big Dance and played far and above expectations. Tough loss to Bradley, but give the Braves credit, they outplayed Kansas and Somerville is a freaking stud. I can see why the NBA wants this guy. Tough loss, but not devastate like last year. I thought they might lose to Pitt... instead maybe they were looking ahead a little.

None taken Hokie Fan, but I said that Kansas had a very successful season (not rewarding)
Success is measured by results-expectations
Nobody who knew anything about the KU program expected these guys to have much more than a winning season yet alone win the Big 12 championship and get a 4 seed.

You saying it just doesnt cut it at a school like KU makes sense but you are forgetting that we are still recovering from the roy williams crisis in which he only recruited a couple of legit recruits in his last 2years as head coach of KU, my opinion is that he had Tar Heels on his mind.
So a normal bball powerhouse without any of its great recruits and then the senior class that has hidden roys secret graduates and leaves you with a bunch of self recruits, you cant expect them to be = to a UNC,Tucky,Duke. Mid Majors got better recruits than KU did in 03-04. We have been playing with an average walk on for 2 years?!?!

To those who think Memphis will be great next year, I agree. Also OSU will be great. So will UCONN for that matter. But I have heard talks about Memphis losing 1 or 2 of their lineup to draft.
