Freinds:
Is the XFL beatable?
The answer is....I don't know. Without the benefit of history, applicable trends, and unknown personnel (not to mention Vince McMahon's involvement) the first weekend appears to be a crapshoot.
For this reason, if you bet -- I recommend taking all of the underdogs. Since no team has played a game and any pointspread is purely speculative, there is value getting any number beyond +3 points. Therefore, I recommend taking any side getting at least three points.
Home field advantage should be negligible, since all teams will be pumped emotionally. So, getting points seems to have value.
Therefore, take:
NY/NJ +4 at LV
Chi +9 at Orl
SF +5 vs. LA
Mem vs. Bir (NO PLAY)
Note: LA is favored on the road due to the belief it has stronger quarterbacking with Maddox and Marinovich (I believe oddsmakers are overestimating this factor).
Although I do not have time to go into this now, with the rules changes in the XFL -- key nuymbers such as 3-4-6-7 are replaced by the following key numbers 1-3-6-8 (6 is key because of the two-point conversion rule).
I am not as confident betting XFL as the NFL, obviously, but I do like the three underdogs tonight listed above.
Best,
Nolan Dalla
