I have finished capping for NCAA football and will be focusing on a group of about 20 teams total. I will only be making plays with or against these teams for the NCAA season. I have already circled one game on the schedule as an absolute dynamite play...but it will be a good month into the season before the game is played. I will be specializing in quarter bets, 1st Half and 2nd Half bets, as I feel my research is unmatched in this field.

California-
Cal will be the underdog for every game this year and they are used to playing this role. I don't see any real big action on them, but I do think that the opener at Baylor will be a favorable line to fade these guys. Baylor should not be laying too many points but I think they get the job done. I am a bit biased because I am friends with Baylor QB Greg Cicero (transferred from UT when I was a senior in high school), but I think Baylor has the better athletes and Cal on the road is not where I want my money.

Central Florida-
Lots of good opportunities with CFU this year. They have some very big games on their schedule this year that includes Penn St in the opener, Ariz St, Marshall (this one will be a shoot-out), and Syracuse. MAC teams will also be fun to watch (Toledo/Akron). Luckily, their home schedule seems to be lighter than their road, and this is where I will most likely be putting most my money.

Florida-
Will be interesting to watch Zook in his first year. I have never been a big Gators but I think they start to establish the run more which will help slow down the game a little and veer away from the complete aerial attack that was common under Spurrier. Very interested as to what the line will be at the Swamp on September 7th vs Miami.

Kentucky-
Another SEC team I chose to take...Lorenzen is a freakin beast but I think they will be a good team to fade this year at home. They have what looks like a total cupcake schedule at home their first 3 games (UTEP, Indiana, Middle Tenn St), but in all reality, I think all 3 of those lower tier schools can hang with them. Louisville should have a field day against them in week one.

Lousiana Tech-
McCown starting to get some Heisman hype...I like this team A LOT! Definitely on the short list as one of my "elite" teams, I plan to take full advantage with La Tech this year...would not be surpised if they are my biggest $ maker all season. If they can get past the tough schedule early on with Clemson, Penn St, and Texas GAY&M, they will be on cruise control for the rest of the season. Don't be surpised to see this team ranked in the Top 10 (BCS will shaft them with their weak schedule, especially since it is very weak at the end).

Louisville-
They are looking as sharp as can be, and a team to watch out for. Will be plenty of opportunities to watch this offense explode against the likes of Duke, Memphis, and Houston. I will take the Redbirds laying 25+ against all these teams. Will have some very special plays with them throughout the season.

Marshall-
Leftwich...enough said. My top candidate for the Heisman trophy and the #1 QB in next years draft...this team will be deadly. Appalachaian State in the opener...WOW! Schedule is as weak as it comes...wish they bulked it up a little so Byron could see some BCS in his final year but that is not going to happen unfortunately. No way this team will even be close to a dog with their light scehdule and that is how I want it to be.

Miami-
The Canes are back and ready to roll again. Dorsey should be phenomenal, defense will get the chemistry after Florida A&M and the game at Florida will be a classic. Miami will probably get the most action from me this year as I have many different situational plays with them that are easy to pull the trigger on. By the way, they should coast by FSU at home in my opinion. Criminoles are going to get slapped on the wrist in this one.

Michigan State-
Jeff Smoker has been as good as advertised and althought Duckett leaves a big hole, this team is a quality road team in my books. They should not be laying large numbers nor getting and real big points as dogs, and this will make for some good picks this season. Rice and California travel to Lansing early on...I think the numbers will be a little infalted so I doubt I touch those games. Look for a big play on Oct 12 @ Iowa.

Minnesota-
Golden Gophers are always a decent team with some good athletes and speed, but they are just too inconsistent. They should be favored early on vs SW Texas St, ULALA, Toledo (maybe not), and Buffalo, but they will not be ready for Big 10 play when it hits them. I feel they will get punished in conference play this year for the most part, but have circled 2 home games where I think they can pull something off.

NC State-
Rivers is a big time QB in a good system, but I think they will disappoint this year ATS. Georgia Tech is my favorite college team (dad is alum) so I don't like any ACC teams, and even harder for me to put money on them. NC State is a very up and down team on the road...that is where I think I will get some solid plays for/against them.

San Diego State-
Nothing special here...I will probably make 2-3 plays with them all year. They should struggle all season...won't cover the spread more than 4-5 games.

Tennessee-
Dynamite team for me..Clausen is going to be good and defense will be very strong. O-Line gets Munoz back and if this team stays healthy, they should be good. Only 4 road games this season for the Vols, and all 4 I think there will be good value on the lines. I don't particularly trust this team ATS at home against the SEC.

Texas-
I am going into my senior year at UT and have grown up watching this team play. I am no Simms fan, not one bit, but I think the fact that Major is gone will be an absoulte difference maker in his style of play. He is a good kid, we were in some classes together freshman year, but he is no Major.

Short aside- I took a Sports Mgmt class with Major and one of the assignments was to go up to the board and write some sports related jobs. Then teacher called someone up to go and explain to the class what they had put down. Major got some humor going with.."Color commentator---their job is to add some interesting stats and commentary to the game aside from the play by play...my favorite happens to be Phil Simms, he is definitely the best in the business." This was during the season, in the middle of all the controversy...LOVED IT! FB/TE Chad Stevens was also in that class, he is a good kid as well. Oh and by the way...nothing better than going to TCBY to get some ice cream and seeing Secret Service in their Suburban waiting for Jenna Bush to finish up her treats. I won't even start with the Jenna stories.

Back to my Horns-Benson is a stud, WR group is best in nation and even better than last year (yeah I know Roy Williams didn't live up to his freshman hype, but he is one of the smartest football-wise on the team and he will get it done this year), and defense will find a way to fill the losses in the secondary and D-Line. D.J. Johnson will be a 1st Team All-American LB by seasons end, he is the catalyst and gets the team going. I am ready for the season to begin and will hopefully get a chance at the title before I depart. As far as my money goes...Texas will get some big bucks from me all year. Schedule is fairly light minus OU and Nebraska...don't even start to tell me that Texas GAY&M will even compete with us this year. Last year was a joke...Golden Boy Simms...aka "Limo" should light it up.

Texas Tech-
Kingsbury is the best QB in the Big 12 hands down. I think Tech can beat Ohio St on the road and I think this team has a good season in front of them. They are one team that scares me towards the end of the season when they visit us in Austin. Ricky Williams will put up some big numbers as the running game should open up for Tech. Defense will be above average...but it will basically be up to the offense this year on getting the wins. Mike Leach is a great coach and Kingsbury will shine in his final year before he goes to the NFL.

Tulsa-
ALERT---Tulsa could be my top money maker this year. My numbers for them are by far the most amazing and every game could turn into some wild winnings. Someone told me that Phil Steele had them as the most improved team in the nation...I don't believe it...this team is fade central for me, and if they improve, then great...lines will be more favorable this year than they were last. They should get tossed around By OU, Ark St, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Baylor get in on it against them. Golden Hurricanes are everything but golden this year.

UNLV-
Yeah..Jason Thomas = fluke last year, but the kid has all the tools and he will get drafted early next year. UNLV was injury plagued all season and they were as disappointing as any last year. I really like Thomas but I won't be dropping too much cash on the Rebels this year. Where as most teams of mine have about 5-10 different areas I look at...UNLV has only 2. Not a bad thing, just means less action. I am actually happy they struggled last year as the line should be a little off this time around (hopefully).

Utah State-
Small school, will play them a few times. Again, nothing too special from this group. Nebraska should tear this team up when they play, but I may have something special in this game when they meet.

Washington State-
Cougars will battle for a spot at the top of the Pac 10 which I think is really wide open this year. Looks like they will have a hard finish to the season travelling to Hawaii and then UCLA to close it out...could find good value in both those games late in the season.

That's all I have for now..just really throwing things off the top of my head and off my one page of notes, but when the season gets under way, things will start to come together. Good luck and talk to ya'll soon. Any comments are welcome.

I think Penn State is going to a good play on team this year.

They could win the Big 10, I think it will come down to them and Michigan. The best QB's in the Big 10 are going to be Smoker, Bollinger and Mills. Best defensive player in the Big 10 will be Kennedy.

Central Florida is going to be a trendy pick for some but they will lose in the revamped Beaver Stadium on opening weekend. Penn State will win by at least a TD against Central Florida. They will also beat Nebraska at home in a close one. I think they beat the Buckeyes in the Shoe and Wisky at Camp Randall. I think their only loss will be against big blue. BUT if Mills gets hurt they will not play well so that is the key IMO.

Excellent write up bro!

Like yourself, I try to concentrate and pull the trigger on a small amount of teams.

SDSU is one of those teams I am going to go against but use a little "caution" when poppin the gun against Utah-State.

Fuentes, the qb, in my opinion is the real deal. A senior, Fuentes is poised for his best season. I know all about his 18 int's but Curtis, Coleman, and Stallworth all are back. Curtis led the nation in receptions per game and ended the season with 1531 yards. He is an excellent receiver.

The o-line is the key. It must provide protection and give Fuentes time to throw. I dont believe its going to get the job done. A majority of the line are jc-transfers with Newton and Trujillo the most experianced. Newton is very good. Teams are going to concentrate on Curtis because the Utah-St back-field is the teams weakest link.

You dont replace a great college rb like Emmit White, with the likes of Fiefia and Fernandez. Look for Watson to be a dominant back in a few years. The loss of White was huge!

Another area of concern will be the d-line.

From what I understand, the defense gave up almost 5 yards per carry, 38 points and 462 yards per game. 4 starters from last years d-line are gone. This line is some-what in-experianced with two juniors and two sophmores. Putnam is the best of the 4 but that shoulder injury is a cause of concern. Teams are going to run right at de Jeremy Guenters side.

I dont know much about Watts and Wilson, but line-backing starts and ends with Jesse Busta. Busta is very good, very good!

Though they faced some excellent qb's last year, the db's are solid. This is the strength of the team with Jimoh, Estelle, and Glaspar all back.

I think Utah-St might be one of those teams you go with, and go against.

Opinions?

$ for sure-

THANKS for the write-up...very appreciated. I will keep all that in mind when dealing with Utah St.

I agree Fuentes is a player, and he has some quick WR's that can spread it out.

Question---you have Duke listed on your "peep" list. I originally had them listed as well, but with the QB Bryant out for season, I scratched them as my past numbers are likely to be a little inaccurate. Who is going to start behind center for the Dukies instead?

Like I said earlier, its pick-n-run with Utah State. I'll post when I think its time to go against, and go with them.

Duke is one of my "go-against" teams, better for us with Bryant out for the season.

Smith has the most experiance, but in my opinion, Dapolito has the tools.

I most likely will tape the first Duke game then make my analysis for the rest of the season.

Other teams on my "peep" list --

Utah
Indiana
Stanford............
