As I have admitted - I am not a good capper. However I do win consistently but I depend on pure probability. As a team wins consecutive games the odds that they will lose the next game become greater. Likewise as a team looses consecutive games the odds that they will win the next game become greater.

Basically a double or nothing type thing that is not for the faint of heart but I use the following rules as a guide.

Rule of tiers:
Top 1/3 tier teams (tier one) I wait until they have lost 3 in a row before betting them to win and wait until they have won 5 in a row before betting them to lose.

Middle 1/3 tier teams (tier two) I wait until they have lost 4 in a row before betting them to win and wait until they have won 4 in a row before betting them to lose.

Bottom 1/3 tier teams (tier three) I wait until they have lost 5 in a row before betting them to win and wait until they have won 3 in a row before betting them to lose.

Rule of equals:
If a sceanario occurs, and they do, wherein you have teams playing each other that you would be betting on both to win, I pass on the play and wait until the next day to play the system.

Rule of opposites:
If a sceanario occurs wherein you have teams playing each other that you would be betting on one to win and one to lose I dombiune the bets.

Rule of home field:
If a team that is to be bet to win is home and playing last game of the stand after losing prior games in the series, I double the bet.

Rule of -1.5 run line:
If a top tier team loses five in a row I split the bet between the ML and run line.

If a dog team has lost five in a row I split between the ML and the -1.5 alt run line (available at Pinnacle - not sure if available at other books).

I do not care who is pitching or who is out with injuries.

It is a simple system that works.

A WORD OF CAUTION:
Long streaks can be unnerving and unless you have the stomach, the bank, and open books do not try this. If a top tier team has a 10 game losing streak you would be betting $12,400 (124 units) on game 11.

BBC, thanks for your comment. I figured you mprobably know more than me and maybe I had just been lucky for the past couple of years. You are right in that this system CAN be a killer if you run into an Oakland team that won 20 straight last year. I did not go that deeply into that string because they had won 104 games the year before so I broke it off after 10 wins.

You comments made me go back and look at the past four years and there have only been eight streaks that longer than 11 wins or losses and only one (in 1999 San Diego had a 14 game winning streak with a losing record) was an extreme. The system seems fairly fool proof if you played just with the top tier after 5 losses and bottom tier after 5 wins. Other than the Padres no top or bottom tier team break down the system.

Another view I want to research is how streaks may work with middle tier teams playing just other middle tier teams.

Thanks for the heads up. Probably saved me some money and certainly helped me refine the process. I will only bet the top and bottom tier and see how things go.

Again, thanks.
