NASCAR Sprint Cup Series returns to the Brickyard

NASCAR?s Sprint Cup Series returns to action this weekend after a week off with the 15th running of the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Sprint Cup standings leader Kyle Busch is a +400 favorite in betED.com Auto Racing betting odds to win on Sunday. Kasey Kahne, who has two top-five finishes in four starts at the Brickyard, is right behind at +500.

Jimmie Johnson, currently in fifth place in Sprint Cup standings, 387 points back of Busch, is +650 to win at the Brickyard, while Carl Edwards and defending 2007 winner Tony Stewart round out the top five drivers at +700.

The AllState 400 marks the beginning of 17 consecutive weeks of racing leading up to the season-ending event Nov. 16 at Homestead, FL.

The winner at the Brickyard has gone on to win the series title in six of the past 14 years.

Jeff Gordon leads all Sprint Cup drivers with four victories at Indianapolis. His 2004 Brickyard 400 victory placed him in a tie with A.J. Foyt, Al Unser and Rick Mears for most wins at Indy at the time.

Michael Schumacher now holds the track record for most victories with five. Schumacher captured his fifth United States Grand Prix title at Indy in 2006, his final season on the Formula One circuit. Formula One competed at Indy from 2000-07.

Gordon, who has yet to win this season, will be looking to snap a 24-race winless streak at Indy. Gordon is at +1200 odds at betED.com.

But Busch, who leads all drivers with seven wins so far in 2008, will be hard to beat. He has won the past two races (Daytona and Chicagoland) and has 12 top-five finishes in the first 19 races this season.

Busch has a 262-point lead over second-place driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., who is +1000 to win this weekend.

The AllState 400 starts at 2 pm ET Sunday and can be seen on ESPN.
