Here's the deal. I agreed to a 3 year contract about 3 months ago for natural gas at $1.575/ therm. Now natural gas has plummeted and I have an offer from a gas marketer here in Georgia for a 12 month fixed rate at $1.03/therm.

To opt out of my current gas marketer I would incur a $150.00 early termination fee. The new marketer will credit $50.00 of any cancellation fees on my new bill leaving me on the hook for $100.00.

Current company tells me they will, as a 1 time courtesy call, reduce my rate to 1.189/ therm for 12 months and waive the remaining 2 years. Seems to me I'd do better to eat the $100.00 and go with the new gas marketer. This new gas marketer was the one I just cancelled a few months ago. Also receive a $25.00 Visa Gift card.

I don't have my old bills showing how many therms I used in the past year but I would think I stand to save more than $100.00 for the next 12 months. I realize I could be paying more than $1.575/therm after 12 months but this seems too good to pass up. What would you guys do?

It all depends on how much you use... but apparently you think you will be saving if you switch to the cheaper company, even though you have to pay the $100 early termination fee.

.

it all depends on how much money you can save
