You don?t have to wait until fall to make some money from betting on the NBA.
The 2007 NBA Draft takes place Thursday, and betED.com is offering lines on which players will be drafted in which round.
With Greg Oden of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Kevin Durant of the Texas Longhorns considered locks to go 1-2 in the draft, bettors can wager on who will be selected with picks No. 3 through 11.
The favorites to be the third overall pick at betED.com are: Al Horford (-400), Mike Conley Jr. (+200), and Brandan (+400). Or you can bet the Field (+350).
Both Oden and Durant are expected to be franchise players who have the ability to turn the teams that pick them into instant playoff contenders.
The 2007 NBA Draft takes place at Madison Square Garden in New York City. There are two rounds and a total of 60 picks will be made.
The Portland Trailblazers have the first pick after winning the draft lottery. While many believe the Trail Blazers are going to make Oden, a center, their No. 1 pick, speculation has arisen that Durant may have entered the picture because Portland has a plethora of centers.
Seattle, with the second pick, is expected to lose forward Rashard Lewis in free agency during the offseason, and will grab either Oden or the multi-talented Durant.
But after Oden and Durant, nothing is guaranteed. Atlanta, Memphis and Boston round out the top-five selections. The Hawks and Grizzlies will both be happy with either Al Horford of Florida or North Carolina's Brandan Wright.
Draft day is also a popular time for teams to swing trades. All-Stars Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Shawn Marion and Jermaine O'Neal could be on the move on Thursday.
Atlanta (3, 11) Charlotte (8, 22), Detroit (15, 27) and Phoenix (24, 29) all own a pair of first-round picks, while Philadelphia has three (12, 21, 30). Cleveland, Denver, Indiana and Toronto are all shut out with no picks heading into the draft. Dallas and Orlando don't have a first-round selection this year.
