I'm wondering if someone that has more experience can help me out. I've been handicapping sports for a year now and have been bouncing around from 50% to 55% until the past month or so. I've been doing horribly lately and I'm wondering if people that have been doing this for longer than me can tell me when to chalk it up to bad variance or just making bad decisions. I got into sports handicapping because I wanted to treat it as an investment. I'm not in this to lose money and if I'm just not a good handicapper I would like to know that. Any advice or help would be awesome.

Hey brotha. Lemme put in my two cents. Sports betting is a game of chance and the terms investment and sports betting should never be used in the same sentence or thought. Anyone who tells you otherwise either needs his brain checked or is trying to sell you picks. Lol.

Do it as a hobby and set aside money you are comfortable losing when luck goes south on you.

I have faded all of your picks and won the first 9 plays you posted. There is no explanation to why you lose when you post and have a better win percentage when you don't. That will even out over the next million picks. Lol. This is simply a short term phenomenon. However, in the end, after the next million plays you will be down money because of the vigorish we pay the books. It's simple math. That is why they let us do this shit.

So basically Have fun spending money on this hobby and kick their ass!! :toast:

The best advice I can give you is scared money doesn't make money. Do your homework and just make the bet. If you question your play don't make it. Confidence is a helluva thing when it comes to gambling.

Pick and choose your bets.

I sleep way better every night not betting every night.

Don't be afraid to fold up shop once you're ahead for the week if there isn't something you really like. My book pays out Monday morning. If I win 2 units Monday night I have no problem sitting out the rest of the week and collecting Monday morning again.

Watch 2nd half lines and see chances where you can hedge a full game bet take it. Sometimes you might even have a shot at a middle. But at least you win half your bet if you hedge.

Watch games for fun. If you seem something or know the team good enough watch the 2nd half lines.
