Thursday night tipped off the Sweet Sixteen, producing a North Carolina blowout (beating Washington State by 21 points), a Musketeer win in overtime, #1-seed UCLA scored a straight up win, but didn?t cover for the second time in as many tournament games, and Louisville finished it off with a drubbing of #2-Tennessee.

As you might expect, the lower seeds playing on Friday night are not getting a lot of respect from the bettors. Sure, Davidson and Villanova might be great stories as they made their way to the Sweet Sixteen, but bettors are not so ready to buy into the ?Cinderella? angle this round, as the moneyline is getting only tiny nibbles, and the action is against them on the pointspread as well.

Let?s have a look at Friday?s four matchups:

#13 Villanova vs. #1 Kansas: This matchup features the largest pointspread of the four games on tap Friday night. The early money flowing in wasn?t completely out of balance, as Kansas had 63% late in the day on Thursday.

However, after #1-seed North Carolina easily covered vs. Washington State in their Sweet Sixteen matchup, the needle started to jump on the Jayhawks, as favorite money poured in.

It looks like the betting public was watching the Tar Heels performance to use it as a bellwether for what might happen with the other odds-on tourney favorite, Kansas. Once North Carolina covered easily, perhaps bettors feel Kansas is going to want to make a similar statement heading into the Elite Eight
As of Friday morning, the split on this matchup is 79% Kansas money, 21% on underdog Villanova.
SPORTSBETTING.COM has Kansas as a 12-point favorite, with an Over/Under of 144.

#10 Davidson vs. #3 Wisconsin: March Madness has been very good to Davidson and their backers through the first rounds of the tournament, delivering a pair of impressive wins and ATS covers.

While they still have their share of backers, the Davidson bandwagon, from a betting perspective, is a little light in the Sweet Sixteen. The betting public is backing the favorite, Wisconsin, hitting them at a 68% clip as of Friday morning.

Davidson have been money when playing quality competition though, going 5-0 against the spread as an underdog this season.
Wisconsin has been red-hot the last month and a bit, going 9-1 against the spread in their last 10 starts. As well, this team has been a consistent ?under? play in their recent games, and really most of the season. They have recorded 1 over and 8 unders in their last nine matchups, and have put up a mark of 5 overs and 14 unders in their last 19 games overall.

SPORTSBETTING.COM has Wisconsin as a 5-point favorite, with an Over/Under of 126.5.

#5 Michigan State vs. #1 Memphis: Memphis is a 4.5-point favorite in their meeting with Michigan State, but like their previous games in the tournament, they aren?t getting the same love from bettors as the other #1s, most notably the Tar Heels and Kansas. In fact, Michigan State has the slight edge in terms of volume in this game, as they are receiving 53% of the action. .
The ?Over/Under? is pegged at 136.5, with bettors preferring the game to stay ?Under? by a margin of 57%.
Michigan State has produced a record of 2 overs and 6 unders the eight times they have been an underdog this season.

#3 Stanford vs. #2 Texas: This is another matchup, like the pointspread, that is very close in terms of where the betting action is landing. The small favorite Longhorns are seeing 54% of all the money coming in.

Worth noting is that Texas has only covered the spread twice in their last eight games (2-5-1 ATS). On the other side, Stanford has been rewarding ?over? bettors, as they have 6 overs and only 1 under in their last seven starts.
Texas is a 2-point favorite, with an Over/Under of 134.

Enjoy Friday?s games and all the weekend action.
