Notre Dame hasn't shown that they're an elite program, but the program has progressed to the point that games against Bowling Green, Virginia and Duke didn't turn into a game. I just don't think motivation will be a problem for the Irish and if you think that they're better than Iowa State from a talent perspective (and I do), then you should back them
