Notre dames defense was always going to be a problem this year because of their youth and just a few high impact players. They've played better than expected, are a lot more fun to watch than previous Irish defenses, but they've had some problems over the last month. They lost their leader Schmidt to injury (senior transfer Riggs may also be out according to rumors) and they face a PAC 12 offense. I will be shocked if Arizona state doesn't go at a high tempo to take advantage of players playing in different roles.
Notre dame may have some success because of their attacking style' but they'll give up some big plays. In any event, they'll move quickly and will either get burned or put their offense in a great position and I think notre dames balanced attack can keep up with anyone, especially an undersized Arizona state.
