I was worried about having some leaders on defense and was worried about how their defensive backfield would hold up when the linebackers wouldn't be able to help with the mid-range ball over the middle. I wasn't expecting it to be a problem last week, but Gardner played pretty fantastic for a quarterback that gets rattled easily. The Irish ran whenever they wanted, they just got down early and panicked.
So, what Notre Dame needs is some leaders to emerge and for the coaches to take an opportunity for another learning experience. But what they really need is . . . .
