In 2009, Jimmy Clausen was throwing to Michael Floyd on his right, Golden Tate on his left and Kyle Rudolph through the seam. Had some defensive players with some agility and speed. It was the year we were waiting for once Weis recruits started to come through. They had just beaten Nevada 35-0 and went to Ann Arbor and it was a game to remember. Back and forth, Notre Dame coming back from double digit leads twice . . . but all the fire power wasn't enough because Rich Rod had found his quarterback and the sky was the limit for Michigan and new Heisman contender Tate Forcier.

All the news said how great it was to have Notre Dame and Michigan "back". Notre Dame had single digit thrilling wins as heavy favorites before losing 4 straight, getting Weis fired and no bowl game. Michigan went 4-8 and Tate Forcier is a HS QB coach in California.

Last week was a great game. . . but what if both teams suck?

The biggest mistake about ND I hear is announcers saying how deep they are. . . They've whiffed on DLine the past three years, are adequate but thin at LB and young in the defensive backfield. They have 3 great QB's, 10 great/good Olinemen, but there's a lot of holes which I thought could be masked by a schedule weaker than it looks. It's difficult for me to watch lines and determine how good they are in comparison to others, but I do know that Texas had a frosh center and were hurt throughout camp and I know that they recruited 5 DLinemen so I know Charlie Strong thinks they're weak there too. And they controlled the line of scrimmage. A TE owned OLB Martini. The defense wasn't even set up at the snap for over 10 plays and some were within they're own 5-yard line. But Kizer may be the best Pro QB prospect in the country. . . but after Hunter went down there were two receivers that had no idea what they were doing.

Maybe Nevada can't exploit all of this, but I can't see why a defense like ND has can lay 28 points to anyone competent. They got burned deep all game playing a three deep. . . the one strength that that coverage has. Because I think there's a good chance that Notre Dame and Texas aren't very good.
