#8 California looks to take it right up to an injury-hit #1 Oklahoma this afternoon.

The Golden Bears earned their NCAA tournament berth with a 13-5 record which placed them third in the Pac-10. They were taken to OT in the first round by North Carolina State before posting a 76-74 victory. California are 5-1 ATS against teams with winning records and 5-3 ATS in the role of underdog. They are led by power forward Joe Shipp who torched NC St for 24 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and is the leading Pac-10 scorer this season at more than 20 points per game. Shipp, Amit Tamir and Brian Wethers combine for more than 52 points per game. Overall this season they are 14-11 ATS and a very impressive 9-2 ATS on the road.

The Sooners limit opponents to 60 points per game to lead the Big 12 in scoring defense. They finished third in the Big 12 with a 12-4 record and are a mediocre 9-10-2 ATS overall this season. Oklahoma posted an easy first-round win over #16 South Carolina St and managed to do so with very limited contributions from injured starters Hollis Price and Kevin Bookout. Price shot just one FG and played only 11 minutes due to a groin injury, while Bookout is suffering from strep throat and was nauseous after playing just 9 minutes in which he went 0-2 from the field. Despite going 5-2 SU on their last seven lined games they are just 2-5 ATS during this time.

In a low-scoring game we'll take the Golden Bears to keep it close enough to cover this afternoon.
