a brutal work schedule and some home computer glitzes have prevented me from consistently posting for the last week or so, and i have lost track of my posting record and the conference home dogs i was tracking here. despite my inconsistency, i have some firm opinions on some home state plays and wanted to get them up tonight.

ncsu -8: haven't played on my wolfpack lately as they have let me down a couple of times but i like them a lot tonight. everyone's probably noticed this year's wolfpack has thus far been night and day on the road and at home. wolfpack returns home tonight after a thrashing by tech in atlanta. moreover, state's #1 threat julius hodge is coming off a terrible game against tech, so bad that coach sendek benched him the entire second half, leaving him with nine points fort the game and intentionally breaking his string of 16 dd games. from what i have heard and read in the press, hodge seems to have responded in practice and in print in a very mature manner, and past history indicates he is likely to have a big game tonight. if he does, the wolfpack should cover easily.

ecu +8-: pirates will have a sro crowd tonight at minges for this nationally televised game with louisville, and expect the place to be rocking with rowdy pirate fans. after a school record consecutive wins to start the season, pirates dropped off but most losses were without point guard travis holcomb-frye, who was suspended. with him, ecu's offense runs much more smoothly and, even though the cardinals are probably playing some of the best ball in the country, i expect the pirates to hang in there throughout the game. you may be surprised but the pirates have won their last six conference usa home games, including two over marquette and one over these cardinals.
