Long story short, TV is about 10 years old (it was a projection / tube mix)... turned it on this am, sound came on then heard a pop and there was no picture.

My question, am I better off buying a TV now, or waiting til after Xmas. I heard there are really good deals immediately after Xmas, but I know a lot of places have specials now.

Also, I am looking to get between 47-55in LCD 1080p, min 120hz. Would like to stay around or under $1000... any recommendations to buy (or stay away from)?

there's probably going to be some killer deals on tv's starting sunday - the last big push for xmas presents.

if you wait longer, you might save 20 bucks or something. depends on how much you value being out a tv for 2 months though.

Really depends on what you're looking for because with TVs these days there's a ton that can come with them.

The best deal I know of right now is s 58" Panny plasma 1080p with built in wifi so you can connect to the internet.(watch netflix without having to do much) 1050.00 or close to that price.

You can score and LED 55" Sony bravia for 1198.00. LEDs are very thin and nice looking.

For cheaper you should be able to get a 50" Panny plasma for around 650.00.

Really depends on what you'll be viewing on the tv. I'm a BIG fan of plasmas because I watch a ton of sports and IMO there is nothing better than a plasma for sports but the new LEDs are pretty awesome.

I was skeptical[sp] at first so before I bought ours a year ago I called Visio from the parking lot of Sams..

They are answered every question I had about replacement within the first year and replacement thru the extended warranty.

Just about all the TV's are so mass produced now that I don't think there is a big difference between say Samsung[which I consider the best pic in the LCD] and say VISIO..Is there a difference..sure some..but $ for $ the 3 0r 4 hundred saved on Visio was worth it to me..

I have a lot of free time[60 days] during the winters so TV shopping has been a hobby for about 5 years now..I am yet to find a daily price for PLASMA..LCD..LED better than Sams...when you add in the 3 year extended warranty it is a nice purchase.

He who spends the most money doesn't always get the best product or service as you know.

I undercut other lawn services every season and send there asses lookin' for new customers..Provide great product and service at a GREAT PRICE and NEVER EVER LACK FOR WORK..

I feel the TV business is the same and I am VISIO..:0074

Snooze, this is a 50" 1080p Pann Plasma for 680.00. You really can't beat this tv. I really don't think you can get a much better picture for us common folks.

http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/1046727/

i don`t need one....but that`s pretty damned tempting...

still have an old mitsubishi (36" tube) in my computer area....waiting for it to die so i can get an lcd/led..... .it`s on constantly...thing won`t quit..

if left to my own devices,i`d have 20 t.v.`s.....

those ultra slim samsung`s are so slick......hard to believe they can make em so thin...

Go to Costco.............Great warranty and you do not have to pay extra for it. Concierge program to help with questions at no cost to you.
I do not buy from the evil, hillbilly empire...I mean Sams or walmart.

Just bought a tv through dealcatcher.com

I bought it through dell after seeing the deal on the website.

I bought it a week before Cyber Monday for $799 and say it $200 cheaper on Cyber Monday. I called Dell and they credited me the difference because they have a 21 day price guarantee.

Good deal!

The best TVs for 2020

The best TVs for 2020
By Brian Westover

Last Modified: a day ago | First Published: 6 days ago
Here are the best TVs available now for every budget, from premium smart TVs to affordable 4K TVs.

We're pretty picky about our TVs, which is why we've spent over 500 hours testing and reviewing more than 40 sets in the past 12 months to find the best TVs you can buy.

Evaluating TVs is about more than just kicking back to watch a movie. We lab test every TV, measuring color gamut, color accuracy and brightness to objectively see which sets are the best for these key indicators. We also test for lag time, measuring to the millisecond how long it takes for content to travel from the original source to the screen. We use these results to make numbers-based comparisons about color and display quality.

We spend time with each set to get more-subjective evaluation and see how our lab results translate into real-world performance. We also compare sets side by side and view samples from the latest movies, specialized test patterns that highlight strengths and weaknesses of each display, and a range of content across several sources. With that information, we can tell you which TVs look best, sound best and offer the best viewing experience.

Finally, we evaluate the smart TV functions and apps for each TV, looking at everything from the remote control design to the voice interaction

Based on our testing, the Vizio M Series Quantum is the best 4K TV under $1,000, delivering a premium smart-TV experience and quantum-dot enhanced picture quality. If you want to save the most money, check out the TCL 5-Series Roku Smart 4K TV (43S517). It's the best cheap TV, selling for under $400, but you'll need to settle for a smaller screen.

Willing to splurge? The LG C9 OLED TV is our favorite overall 4K TV. It offers the best combination of picture and sound, a truly intelligent smart-TV experience and a decidedly sleek design.

And there's always new stuff coming. Check out our recent reviews of the Vizio P-Series Quantum X PX65-G1, our new favorite Vizio TV, or the Hisense H9F, a killer Android TV. And get a glimpse of what's coming in 2020, with guides to new models from LG, Samsung, Sony, TCL, Vizio, Philips and Hisense, along with every Roku TV that's been announced.

There's a lot more out there, from premium OLED alternatives to giant, 75-inch screens. You'll even find a great outdoor TV on our list. We also have an in-depth TV buying guide that's full of detailed shopping advice, and our best cheap TV deals page is the fastest way to save big on a new TV.

Here are the best TVs you can buy right now.

Just bought a 75 inch 4K QLED 6 series Samsung around Christmas, the new 7 series came out and I bought the previous model, so far so good, only issue is finding 4K programming, we watched the Super Bowl in 4K from the foxsports app and it was amazing
