my friend is going to reno and he wants to stay at the sands there. is that close to the convection center plus how's the hotel thanks 4 any info

Convention Center is a little under 4 miles. About 10 a minute drive. Of course you would want to leave earlier than that depending on traffic.
I can't comment on the Sands itself they all look the same to me in Reno.
