Martin's BBQ ... Pat Martin is one of the original Pitmasters on TV ... he does whole hog smoking
Peg Leg Porker would be #2 ... it is more dry rub type and also very good
Prince's is VERY good and is also in one of the worst hoods in Nashville
Right behind Martin's is 400 Degrees and is excellent but the most popular is Hattie B's, they have 2 locations and go to the one on Charlotte Pk, less than 10 minutes from downtown and they also have an excellent beer selection and much easier to get in and out than the MidTown location
Also a 1/2 block from Peg Leg Porker is Party Fowl and they have been on several TV shows ... they also specialize in craft cocktails and have more unique options with hot chicken
hot chicken is one of my fav things in the world and I can give you the scoop on most everyone in town
are you driving? if you have never used Uber or Lyft, I can hook you up with some 1st time rider codes and show you how to share with others in your party to get multiple rides

I lived there for 30 years up until last year so I can pretty much give you a reference for anything with food & entertainment, lodging and transportation.
I would not recommend hotels Downtown as Nashville is now more expensive than NYC and LV. Airbnb is the way to go and I can recommend some great areas for rooms in the $100-150 night range.
Parking Downtown is now ridiculous ... it is $25-50 just to park before even having the 1st beer ... Uber/Lyft are everywhere and if not used before, I can hook you up with 1st time rider codes and its unbelievably cheap there plus you do NOT want to drive around there.
there is also a free phone app called Scoutmob that has some great deals ... only in like a dozen cities, its like Groupon/Living Social BUT you pay for nothing, just show them the deal on the app and it comes off your bill! For instance, an awesome blues bar downtown is Bourbon Street Boogie n Blues, Cajun inspired food, has 50% off up to $40, so you can have $40 worth of food n drinks and they take $20 off your bill just showing the app :0074
