It's my 1st round of fantasy playoffs this week. I am down 4 pts. in my game and I have Bulger going tonight. The guy I am playing still has the Rams D too. Winner of the league takes 1k. My question is should I, or can I, 'hedge out' of my fantasy needs w/ the game total tonight?

I need the Browns to score pts. so that his D doesn't. I also need Bulger to throw TD's. That means I need the total to go over.

Should I hedge against this going over the total and me winning my fantasy game by taking the under in the game?

First, I would only think about a hedge if you get more money for advancing another round. Without knowing your scoring system, do QB's in your league generally outscore the defenses? I wouldn't hedge on the spread or the total (i.e. Rams defense scores a td, affecting the under).

You might want to look at some props, like yardage for Bulger or something like that. Unfortunately, there is no good way to hedge, unless you call your opponent and make a deal for future profits, which are against the rules in most leagues. If QB's usually score more than defenses in your league, i'd let it ride and hope cleveland doesn't do anything stupid.

Bulger is averaging 20 ppg in my league.

Rams D is averaging 17 ppg in my league.

If the over hits I should win my fantasy game..unless it's Rams 45-7 or something like that.

I feel like the under is a good way to hedge b/c if it goes under that means Bulger probably didn't do so hot and also would prob. mean that the Rams D put up good fantasy numbers.
