Absolutely terrible, a young couple in there 30's with two small children lost a home in this fire. Charging a golf cart battery and it ignited in the garage. The children were at school, thank god.. very sad, yet fortunate no one was injured. they have insurance, yet, thinking about photo's and keep sakes for the children, just tore me up inside :0008

Sucks having that happen to friends and so close to home.

Doesn't HO Insurance issue emergency money to get people along during emergencies like this? I would think so being such a small advance towards what they will be paying out in the long run.

Probably nothing to worry about but I would be worried about there being some kind of loophole for the insurance company to not pay considering the way the fire started. I'm sure they didn't know he was charging golf carts in the garage. Who knows.

I am sure they had immediate funds available to them from the HO policy. I want to do something extra from a personal stand point for them as do others in our neighborhood.

I was just thinking out loud early this morning.

Charging Golf carts should be a non-issue. If anything, the carrier will pay the claim and subrogate against manufacture of the charger or battery depending on what the c&o investigator uncovers in his inspection.

I handle about 60 fires annually. You would be amazed how much support the victims receive from neighbors. I'm desensitized to the property loss, but injuries, loss of life and loss of pets is hard to deal with. A couple of years ago I was making my way through a fire scene with loss life. Buried in the muck was the family dog, which I stepped on. I'll never forget he feeling of stepping through the rib cage. Gives me chills to think about it to this day.

Cie, I did the same thing at a total loss in Bastrop. Was looking around scoping the room and looked up because I heard the homeowner crying. He then told me I was stepping on the remains of his dog. One of the worst feelings I've ever had. There's just nothing you can say at that point.
