First time getting to use the Never Lost system offered in select rental cars for 7 bucks a day. Uses a GPS satallite to track your car on a map displayed in the low console area of the car.

Arrival time into Philadelphia airport late Friday night. The airport in Philly is big and spread out so it took me and my wife awhile to get to the car. When we finally got in the car we spent about five minutes fooling around with it before we started to go. It does take some getting used to but we got it going enough to begin the trip.

It was 9 pm by now and I was not looking forward to the thought of driving to Trenton NJ that late at night. My wife wanted to get a close hotel so we could get up and meet our friends early Saturday.

The Nav system works well. It is well lit up on a small 3"x3" screen and does not bother your eyes much. You can power it down or it goes off on key turn off.

If there is only one person this system is would be much harder to get used to quickly. Very difficult to keep your eyes on the road and try to watch the arrows for upcoming turns if you are not sure. Especially at night. During daytime hours the screen does get some glare but overall is easy to read.

It was awesome that we could drive and have no worry about being lost in a totally unfamiliar area. All we had to do was follow the english words ( comes in 8 languages ) spoken to me in a womans voice to turn left , bear right etc.

Now if they wanted me to hate this thing they would allow my wife to put her voice in the recordings of the turns . Then I could be tortured without her even being there. Sighs.

If there are detours it will get confused and it has to recalculate the route. You have to stop and input a new destination. It wont let you do it if the vehicle is moving, although not sure why.
We had to stop maybe three times to work with the thing to make sure we had put the destination in right.

It can also be confusing at first as it will say ......turn right in .5 miles and you start looking and can easily misjudge the half mile and make a wrong turn if you are not careful. We missed turns about five times total where we had to circle around and go back , but the unit guides you back quite easily.

When you go the correct way it rings a dome bell chime so you know you did good
.
This thing tracked us in parking lots of malls. It did give us wrong readings about twice but it could have been operator error getting used to it.

The peace of mind these units give you are well worth the money. Overall a good experience.
