New contest starting tonight! (Rules inside)

I'ts called the Private Petey's Pick the Personals contest. (PPPP)

Here's how it's going to go:

1. Each day we predict the total number of personal fouls in all of the NBA games combined, without going over.

2. Picks must be made in the PPPP thread. If they are posted anywhere else, they will not count.

3. This is a daily contest that will run through the final game of the NBA season.

4. Each player will be allowed to miss one day without being disqualified. This will be your 'mulligan'. When I post the standings, there will be an (M) next to your name if you have used your mulligan. If you're mulligan is used, you're average score for the rest of the year will be added into your final score.

5. The object is to have the lowest score possible. If you pick (135) and the actual number of fouls is (175), your score will be 40. If you go over the total, you will receive the highest score of the day, plus 10. That is called the " over penalty". So, you want to make sure that you don't go over.

As fouls are a big part of the game, I think that this contest will help us understand them a little better. They should be a big part of every handicappers arsenal.

There are no prizes, other than pride. I will try to get the admins around here to kick in a beer can holder or something.

That is a great question that I didn't cover in the rules. Yes, technicals will count since they count as personals as well.

Another thing that I forgot is the rule: DO NOT EVER EDIT A POST. That is grounds for dismissal.

You can change your pick, but you must make another post.

******RULE CHANGE******

I believe that one of my rules is a bit too stringent.

Now, instead of just one mulligan, each player shall receive eight (8).

The number of mulligans used will still be noted to the far right of the player in the standing threads. For instance, if 3 mulligans have been used, it will be noted as such- (3M).

The amount of mulligans used will be multiplied by the players average daily score at the end of the contest and added to final total.

All other rules will remain in full force.

Not trying to offend, but when I first read this, I thought it was stupid. kinda thought this can't be serious. Thought it was some kind of a joke. But then people started responding.

I don't see that there is much of a point to it. Why don't we have a contest where we try to guess how many starters on a given night will wear their shorts below their knees? But you have to subtract 2 if their socks go above the calf. But don't go over. Remember, only 3...er, make it 6.48 do-overs.

And what's the reward for all this? Uh.....nevermind.

But, what the heck, I'll give it a shot:

Nolan Dalla, yes it is personal fouls, not free throw attempts.

Night Horse, since you didn't use whole numbers, I will round up your fouls to 133 and round down your technicals to three (3), for a total of 136. I will place it in the proper thread.

Antonio, I sense that you were joking. It wasn't all that funny if you consider the correlation between personal fouls and whether a game goes over or under. I FIND YOU TO BE A SARCASTIC FUC*HEAD WHO SHOULD MIND HIS OWN BUSINESS!!!!

Barfly, I can totally appreciate your concerns about this contest. I think that in time you will see the value here.
