If you like a brain-challenging film, then you must see Memento. This movie is incredibly original. I did not want it to end when it did. Anyway, go check it out if you can find it in a small theater. You probably won't find it in any of the big boys now. It comes out for rental on Sept. 4.

MEMENTO is for people who like to think, but unfortuntely a lot of people just want to veg at a movie. I thought it was brilliant, but I've talked to others who didn't like it because it was confusing and made them think.

I too thought it was one of the better movies I've seen in a long time.Funny though some of my friends did'nt care for it,while others couldn't stop raving about it.A recommendation to those who go see it,pay close attention from the very beginning.

If you liked Memento and you don't mind graphic scenes, check out Requim for a Dream. This movie is a mind-blower. About how addictions can keep you from accomplishing your goals. Much about drugs (Heroin and Diet Pills), but I think it can reflect how any addiction can skew your train of thought.

Dawgball, you may not of wanted it to end when it did, but you gotta admit Memento had one of the great "last lines" in recent film history.

"Now ... where was I?"

dawgball,

I thought Requiem wa interesting but maybe a bit overwrought. It seems that Aronofsky kind of goes out of his way to blast you with crazy images to get his point across, but I prefer a bit of subtlety. You know what it was, I think the ending felt like it was a down ending just for the sake of trying to be different, you know. When I see other down endings, (I guess Leaving Las Vegas comes to mind, kind of American Beauty, too) a lot of times they seem more natural. Requiem's down ending felt like it was just trying to ram something home to the audience to me rather than a natural down ending.

DTB--We played CottonWoods on Saturday with heavy winds. If you have not been there, the course is immaculate, but you can tell that there is a lot of inexperienced play because the greens are slightly damaged due to people not fixing divots. (Note to anyone starting to play golf: Be respectful and clean up the damage that you cause to the course.) You can tell the grounds crew works hard on keeping them straight, but it looks to be a tireless job.

The wind on Saturday was horrible on the front (20-30 mph), and I shot a 48. Back side the wind calmed down and I went in to the house with a 40. Ended up winning 4 skins in a group of nine golfers, so I was pretty happy. My 88 put me at 5 out of the nine golfers, but I was lucky and performed ont the right holes. From the tips, the course is right at 7000 yards. There is water on 13 of the holes, and there are somewhere around 90 bunkers n the course.

All of this makes it sound like a tough course, but it really wasn't all that bad. The fairways are pretty wide. The guy that shot the best round of the day (38-40) only pulled the driver four times. He was one of the guys from BG.

I hope this is a full enough report for you.

No doubt about it. That was a great line.

Nick

You hit it when it was overwrought. But, I think they were going for the shock value. It is sometimes overdone, but I think it went with the pace of the movie. The end for all three of the main characters was quite dramatic if you ask me, but I think they sealed their point.

DTB

If your catching strokes, it will be at one of the massage parlors with all the money you take from me on the course.

I don't see how the ending for "Requiem" could have been anything but tragic or "down". How could a "happy" ending been plausible with the characters and situation it was dealing with?

Aronosky's imagery was meant to make the viewer feel he was taking the drugs along with the characters. It had to be done forcefully and over the top, or else his message would have seemed weak at best. The final 15 minutes or so of the movie was so intense, almost felt as if the movie was going to burst off the screen...amazing how powerfully done it was.

A movie that I think parents should let their teenager's watch, as I haven't come across anything that could deter one from taking drugs as this movie can.

And yes, "Memento" is a terrific movie. Highly recommended.

I agree completely. I watched the Cartoon Network for an hour after Requim was over, so I could feel good about life again.
