Looks like a great set of message boards here at MADJACKS.

Anyone close to Mountaineer, Meadows or Charlestown?

Hey Livedog welcome aboard. I`m about as far away from Mountaineer as you could get, Vancouver B.C. (yea canucks) but I have tried Mountaineer a few times at our simulcast and it has me talking to myself. Any good suggestions for this track?

Thanks in advance and good luck with the ponies,

Skanoochies.:) :) :) :)

Skanoochies,

Believe me this is not an easy track to handicap at all. Here are a few things that seem solid.

1. C. Murphy (jockey) Knows how to move his horse in route races better than anyone there.

2. D. Parker (jockey) I always bet him when he is a longshot. Reasoning is that he really isn't as good a jockey as the forms show....Therefore, he let's bad or sore horses run. Won't catch him pulling up on a pony anytime soon.

3. Pereira O M (jockey) every time I don't bet this guy he hits the board. Most of the time nosing out my WIN horse. So never throw him out of your exotics.

4. Stay off the rail. Really DEEP on the inside.

5. Never take a horse that has just broken MAIDEN when they are positioned in the middle of the track.

6. Harry Thompson Jr.( trainer ) He is the best trainer when bringing a horse to Mountaineer. I like betting his horses...well groomed, in great physical condition and always ready to fire.

7. Mountaineer always presents races with great payoffs. I stab at alot of longshots while betting here. Quinellas especially.

Take care and have fun at the track!

I don't play Mountaineer too often; but on those rare nights when I'm at the track I will play it. I thing I noticed was the talking head commentator gave very good insights into the races. He went beyond the stuff in the Form or program.

Mountaineer is a tough track throw all handicapping rules out the window when betting there. You can pick up the live video feed on the internet and listen to the two Mountaineer commentators before every race they really discuss it in depth on every horse. And they are pretty decent handicappers.
I like to play the Jockeys there I always bet on Dana Whitney and Gary Birzer no matter what they ride.

Always liked David McFadden and Jason Eads. Two pretty decent jocks.

One of my favorite angles at Mountineer is to look for a trainer shipping in and bringing their own jock for one ride to steal a nice purse.
