HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!

Hope everyone had a safe, fun night last night. And, I hope you picks fared better than mine. I did hit Auburn late, so that took some sting out of a lame 3-5 days. Anyway, its a new year, so onward:

Bowls 14-8-2

Wisco +3 over Tenn......should I even still be posting this.....I played the Badgers, but had issues getting on this site (well, actually my server, I it kept kicking me out).....if people object, i'll wont count it in the record, but I just wanted to at least let people know which side I was on. Bottomline, I always like Wisco as a dog and hate Tenn as a favorite. Sounds simple, but its been a pretty good rule of thumb for a while for me. Plus, Wisco is always underrated in these spots, has a great bowl record as a dog and has covered three straight years vs the SEC in a news years day bowl.

Missou -2.5, -130 over Arky. This is a double play for me. Mizz might be disappointed about their bowl spot, but they do relish the chances to play the SEC in a historical venue. Mizz basically kicked everybody's butt but Oklahoma this year. Not sure if Arky has the chops to really slow down and stop Daniel and the Tiger attack. Yes, Arky will do damage as well, and i cant wait to watch their running game. But Mizz is more diverse and in the end Daniel >>>>> Dick....by a long shot.....plus, every team with a interim coach has lost thus far this bowl season, I'll lay the short number. I see a 38-28 Missouri win in the end.

Good Luck!!!

Adding:

Virginia +7, -120....line was at 6.5, and I bumped it up to a full TD. How in the world will the 90th ranked offense keep up with the high flying Red Raiders? Well, the Cavs have found themselves in tight games every week this year as almost each one of their games has been decided late. No need to think thats not going to happen again, so I'll grab to points and go with it. TT is not an unstoppable force. Missouri and CU, as an example, either contained or falt out stymied it. Virginia's defense is better than those guys and its one fo the top stop unit out there. A big key to success is getting pressure on Harrell, whic the Tigers and Buffs did. Chris Long meet Graham Harrell. Long's presence and an overall defensive effort of the Cavs will force the Raiders into enough stalls that the Cavs will be there in the end. On offesne, expect the Cavs to milk the run and five teams have gone for over 200 on the ground agasint the Red Raiders. If the Cavs can make it six, they'll probably win, but I say they at least come close enough to stay within a TD.

UM-FLA Over 61. Maybe I am dreaming, but I think Michigan can score four touchdowns agaisnt Florida. I think we can all agree that Florida will get at least four TDs on Michigan. When these teams played a few years ago in a bowl, it was 38-30. Think both teams end up in the 30s as well.....Florida might get into the 40s.

ROSE BOWL. The Granddaddy of the All

Where Big 10 dreams go to die.

Nevertheless:

Illinois +14 over USC. I tell ya, if the Illini can survive early game "ohmygood look who and where we are playing" jitters, they will be there in the very end. In their opening game, they gave up 40 points to Missou, but nobody has topped the 27-part ever since then. And, we saw earlier today how explosive Missou is. Illinois has come light years since then. They have defensive playmakers all over the field. They'll get to Booty a few times. JP Lehman is a tackling machine and look for Vontae Davis to get a critical INT and pass breakup. In each of their 3 big wins this year, (Wisco, PSU and OSU), Davis had a huge play against the pass to thwart drives.

USC is a great team, but the fact is Illinois offensive and defensive lines will be the best the Trojans have seen all year. I think they can malke a difference here, i feel like they can give Illinois enough of a push on offense to grind out a few scoring drives and enough of a push on defense to keep USC from going off. If Juice plays within himself, we'll see some stretches where he is the best guy on the field. Look, OSU had no answers for him, and, while I dont expect him to be the Rose Bowl MVP or anything, its kind of odd that so many people USC will just smack him down cold. I love the Trojans, but its not as good--yet--as previous seasons. Think they win this game, but it'll be close, ugly and not a lot of scoring.

Under 50: Like i said in the above sentence. Its not going to be a pretty game....50 is not that high a number, but I think a slugfest breaks out. Dont feel like Illini will explode on offense, but I feel they can contain USC more than enough. For those who dont follow the Illini, I really feel you are going to leave today's game impressed with their talent on D, and other than Lehman, the MLB, they all will be back next year. This team is physical, fast, and will make plays.

Final score something like 21-10, 24-13 or 27-14.

That Illinois game was no good....USC just got rolling and it was over....literally, since I had the under.

Anyway, here goes w/ the Sugar:

Hawaii +10, -120, over UGA......Line went up to 9 at -105 and I bought it up to 10. Think the 'Bows can keep it within single digits, even if take a late back door score......Hawaii actually brings some defense into this table with a run stuffer nose guard, an active, fast pass rush that will have Stafford off balance at times and a quick, ball hawking secondary that can more than keep up witha just-ok Bulldog receiving corps. We all know about Hawaii's offense. Sure, UGA will give them more defense than they've seen all year, but I think, on the turf, they can still make enough plays to give the bulldogs a game. Colt Brennan gets enough offense for the Bows, who will fall short 35-27 as UGA turns back a late drive.

Up a little so far despite the 3-3 record as I made missou a pretty big play.....played normal bets on the rest....I hope the Sugar Bowl just gives us some drama as this Rose Bowl has been a let down.

If you have not figured it out yet, I am a bit of a degenerate....feeling a little blue that I have to go back to work tomorrow.....so, we're adding another play on this late one:

7-point Tease: UGA -1.5, Over 61.5....line did go down to 8.5 at my book, but thats not why i bit on the teaser....kinda insurance play. If Hawaii is so not ready to compete w/ UGA, i think at least I still have a chance to nail this one......if my final score holds true, I will be golden for both.

But if UGA blows them out early, at least I have an insurance play going because you know Hawaii is going to pass pass pass until the very end, if he down 21......

Maybe not the best strategy, with the teaser, but I think i stand an pretty good chance of nailing both.
