I really like them both, the Giants have had a week to rest up a should be ready to put a hurt on the Boys. And with the probability of Bettis not playing the Jets should roll.

In my opinion, Bettis has basically carried the Steelers offense for the most part this season and without him, I can definately see them having a very tough time offensively vs. the Jets. Pittsburgh secondary seems a bit suspect to me as well, so gotta believe the Jets +5 is great value and I'll certainly take it. The Jets are also a very solid road team, having won all 5 road contests SU so far this year! As for the Giants, they simply look like an average football team at best right now and asking them to win any game by more than a FG leaves me willing to pass on that game. Good luck all.

NightOwl,
Here are my thoughts on the game. I am a little biased but here they are:
Jets O vs. Steelers D:
The Steelers do one thing really well and that is stop the run. C Martin is one of the best backs in the game so he will fare alright but wont take over the game. That brings me to Vinny. The Steelers DB's arent suspect. Moss got to them last week like Moss can get to anyone if he wants. IMO Vinny sucks and even if the Jets recs get open a couple of times, he wont be able to hit them anyway. EDGE: STEELERS D
Jets D vs. Steelers O
Bettis being out will open up the run more than in previous weeks. Most teams stack 8 men in the box and stop the run. With Bettis out, the d will not bring up the safeties causing great matchups for the O-Line. The Steeler running game is so good alot due to their O-Line. The O-Line will create plenty of wholes and Fu will hit them.

That is how I see the game. I see a close one but Vinny will make a couple of mistakes and Steelers will win by 7-10. Hope that helps some.

When was the last time the Giants played a "good" game? When they beat Washington on Oct 7, Wash was one of the worst teams in the league, so we may have to go back to the week before that, when they beat the Saints at home. If I remember correctly, they were aided by a controversial call at the end of the game. At least Dallas keeps trying AND they can run the ball pretty good.

SteelCity, thanks for the reply -- you made some very good points. What do you think about the under? That's a pretty low total, but I really think this is going to turn into a defensive war. Gotta semi-disagree with you on a couple of things. Isn't FU the fullback? Getting a lot of carries would be a new/different role....I totally agree that the Jets won't stack the line to stop the run, but in my opinion Kordell hasn't turned the corner to the point where you have to be "scared" of the pass, either. If I see similar production from FU/Zereque (or however ya spell it) as I did from Bettis than I will know 100% that O line is truly awesome (and I don't doubt that they are very good). Also, as for the Pitt secondary, didn't McNair throw for 330 yards of them? Thought I saw that....doesn't make them "suck" by any stretch, but does show me that a decent QB can get the ball downfield on that secondary, provided he can scramble some or get decent pass protection. Obviously ever QB needs the "time" to pass. Of course your point on Vinny is well taken. HE SUCKS. He can do neither! LOL Combine that with the fact that the Jets are stubborn and will probably try and run the ball no matter what and I think it adds up to me making a (small) play on the under. P.S. I still lean to the Jets here, as well. I'd have to check the numbers to be sure, but I believe they've been very solid dogs recently. Best of luck

NightOwl,
You as well make some good points. The under looks good. The only thing that scares me about the under is the bad weather. It could cause for some turnovers and quick points. I think a teaser in both situations would be good.
About the 330 they allowed against McNair. I was at the game here is how it happened. First play McNair hit a 70 play action pass for a TD. They also trailed most of the second half and were throwing alot because the Steelers shut down George. I would have to check the stats but George had to have thrown over 30 times. A couple two minute drills when you team is down helps boost the stats. Good luck with whatever you play!! I wont be betting but will be rooting hard for my boys!

As for the Jets game, I just basically don't respect the Steelers' record at this point. They have a great defense, but not sold on the offence one bit and feel this could be the game where Kordell tries to make plays to make up for the absence or limited play from Bettis. The Jet sfor all their trouble early on stopping the run, have some defensive playmakers that I think will come into play this weekend such as Abraham, Farrior, Lewis. Not a gan of the Jets by any means but just feel they get the job done here on the road. Clearly, this game should revolve around turnovers created by the defences. Me thinks the Jets win the turnover battle and the game.

As for the Giants, I think the bye will wake this team up. A loss here basically ends any hope of the NFC East and the wildcard would not look promising either. A must win for the Giants and feel they jump on the Cowboys early as the Boys did to them in NYC. The Giants D has struggled at times this year and has been brilliant at times this year (vs. St.Louis), I think a trip on the road is the right medicine for this team and they cover the short number.
