THe following was forwarded to me on an email. Not much makes me feel ill but this did. I will probably think of this any time I even consider for a second driving after having too many. I think many here can benefit from this as well. If any of you want the email version to forward on to friends or family, let me know.

This young lady was recently on Oprah and what a loving, forgiving young woman she is ! An amazing story of what she has suffered and will bear the rest of her life. Please share this with your friends and especially your teenagers who are driving.

After the accident Jacqueline has needed over 40 operations.

Not everyone who gets hit with a car dies. This picture was taken 4 years after the accident and the doctors are still working on Jacqueline, whose body was covered with 60% severe burnings.

On the course!
This really doesn't reach people, though.

Drinking and driving accidents have to be the most, "It won't happen to me" trauma, bar none.

nope, smoking cigarettes and dying of lung cancer (it won't happen to me) would take that one by a long shot.

it is not the few that hurts it is the 12 packs put away and driving tired and blitzed out of your mind. i know most wont agree with that but that is too bad same shit happens with people on the cell phones and old people are worse than people with a few drinks in them anyday of the week. not condoning it just saying there are alot of people driving irresponsible that are not drunk so why not go after all of them oh thats right the state cant make any money off tickets for people just using cell phones but make big money off drinking and driving. the government could make it harder to drink and drive they dont want to stop it too much money to be made.

That's what a great friend of mine thought up to his last few breaths on Feb. 1, 2006. Wasn't lung cancer, but emphysema. Died like a fish out of water and still smoked. Way to young at 52 to leave so sudden. RIP.

saint i meant no disrespect. i just think the system sucks. i think you have the right idea dont be like others but try to be responsible. i just think there are many irresponsible drivers. what kills me is seeing the police and the rest of the system saying they care and they want to stop it. they just dont try that hard to much money they make off of it. as i stated in another post i know a dwi enforcement cop that drives after drinking alot and like yyz says the only time people care is if you get caught or worse kill someone and some dont even care then look at leonard little.

Jack, with cigs, you know you are killing yourself. You can't deny that.

But with drinking and driving, millions of people do it every single day. It's not always the same people, and it's not always some "drunk".

(I had to drive home......I was too drunk to walk!)

The biggest problem with drunk driving is that the more you get away with it, the easier it becomes to justify.

I also agree about cell phones, and how distracting they are. The thing is......once you hang it up, you are no longer "impaired".

The pictures dont even tell the whole story on folks like this.

I had a client once that was severely burned in a chemical dust explosion in a refinery that decided to save a few bucks by turning off the dust evacuation system and didnt bother to tell the workers. His co-workers hauled ass and left him there to burn, running right past the fire hoses. He climbed down 3 levels of stairs - on fire the whole time and got himself in to a safety shower. He was 22 years old.

He lived. Had about 30 operations. I met him 2 days after the accident and the thought of walking into that burn unit, hearing the screams, and the smells, is something one can never forget. Baths in chemicals, scraping skin with something essentially looking like a potato peeler...

And he was lucky...he is nowhere as disfigured as this lady. His fiancee stayed with him and he now has a baby. He can play golf, if it isnt too hot, but mostly does alot of work as a counselor at the burn unit.

He has more money than he can ever spend and never has to work again. I assure you he would trade it all back, and you couldnt add enough zeroes to it to get me to go through it.

Saint thanks for sharing. I feel sick right now, but the impact was felt.

I have a story/experience that scared me out of the idea of every drinking and driving as well. In college a friend was driving down the freeway one night, stone cold sober (thankfully) when a women ran across the road and was hit by his car. To this day we never know what the womens' issue was, but she was dead on impact. If my friend had a sip of alcohol that night, he would have faced jail time justifiably. Thankfully he didn't, and was just in the wrong place at the wrong time when this women decided to run across Rt 80 at 3am. Was a terrible thing for him to deal with, but could have been much worse had alcohol been involved on his end.

Saint, could I get your email from Jack. I was with some friends last night who have a couple of high school age girls and I was telling them about this. They are involved with the "Project Graduation" at their school and would atleast like to see this in email form to possibly use later this year.

Good Luck
