SAINTS -4 (1100-1000)

Analysis: At 1 pm, our selection is on the New Orleans Saints minus the points over Tampa Bay. New Orleans checks into this afternoon's game off a loss at Arizona, while Tampa Bay upset Cincy 24-21. The knee jerk reaction might be to fade the Saints, who have failed to cover four straight games (while Tampa is now 3-1 ATS). But Super Bowl Champs are now a super 12-0 ATS on the road since 1980 off a straight-up loss when matched up against a .670 (or better) foe off a SU/ATS win, provided our defending Champs are not favored by 7+ points. Take New Orleans.

RAMS +9 (1100-1000)

Analysis: At 1 pm, our selection is on the St Louis Rams + the points over San Diego. Last week, the Rams were blown out 44-6 by the then-winless Detroit Lions. A lot of folks will shy away from St Louis here, especially given the fact that San Diego has piled up the points lately (scoring 27, 41, 20 and 38 their last four games). But NFL teams generally rebound very well off SU losses in which they surrendered 40+ points, and scored less than 30. And especially when installed as a home underdogs of more than 6 points vs. non-division foes. Indeed, in this situation, home dogs are a perfect 25-0 ATS since 1986. Don't be surprised when this game goes down to the wire. Take the points.

49ers -6.5 (1100-1000)

Analysis: At 4:05 pm, our selection is on the San Francisco 49ers minus the points over Oakland. Admittedly, the Niners are winless this season, but winless teams do quite well against the spread at Game 5 of the season forward, if certain other conditions are present (which they are, here). And I have systems with records of 49-22, 104-57 and 68-31 on San Francisco based on the fact that it has failed to win a game this season. Moreover, off its upset win last week over San Diego, the Raiders fall into several negative systems of mine, with records of 39-114, 44-82 and 17-53 ATS. Let's take a look at our 53-17 ATS system. What we want to do is fade any .251 (or better) team off an upset win the previous week over a division rival (as a dog of more than 5 points), if it is facing a foe off back to back losses. Look for an old-fahsioned blowout in this battle of Bay Area rivals.
