Some of you will want to hunt me down for saying this, but I have never been one to hold back, so here goes.
I would love to see NO contests here at Jack's place.
This is the time of the year when all of the "cherry pickers" come to town like migrant farm hands. They have zero to offer, but want to get a shot at some free cash through contests.
These contests seem to be the gambling forum equivalent to the .99 shrimp cocktail on the Vegas Strip. Now, I would be less than honest if I said I didn't do the same at other sites, and I've made over $2,000 in less than 18 months by doing so. The thing is, these sites have one 20th of the clout this palce does. I post once or twice a week at them, and my post stays on the front page for three weeks before it is bumped off to the next page.
I enjoy this place to no end, and it does sting a bit when I read the shit some wise ass tosses up in these pages from time to time. At the genesis of each season, we face the hordes of "newbies" telling us how great they have been all their life at handicapping, and "Don't take my word for it....watch my results!" attitudes. These are the guys who pound the contest boards and only post up in those threads. (With the odd exception of a few bashes in someone elses thread who had a bad day.)
Contests? I say let the other guy have them.
