Ok once again its the opening game for the NFL season. Ahhh so nice to finally see football back in action. Well only one game on the card so lets goooooo...

Wasington comes into this one with a kinda new QB and in the second year of the Spurrier era. On offense they come in with new QB- Ramsey , RB- Canidate, and WR - Coles with all these new faces the washington offense may take a while to gel but can't overlook the amount of talent that is here. The offensive line is as usual very good and should be one of the leagues better units if they stay healthy. The main question about the Skins offense is at QB as Ramsey has to prove himself and can spurrier stay with him long enough to give him that chance. On defense the Skins On Defense the redskins lose Coach Marvin Lewis a defensive Guru and replace him with George Edwards. There are some new faces on this years Skins defense but one thing remains the same is that they have excellent Linebackers in Armstead , Arrington, and Trotter. They also have great talent in the secondary and coverman Champ Bailey takes over completely now for Darrell Green who retired. The only weak point for the Skin's D is the D-Line as they have alot of new faces there and lost Gardener, Powell, and Wilkinson. These losses could be a problem as they have not made any sugnificant moves to replace the talent level of those guys. So this a big question mark for the D. On special teams the Redskins are again in solid shape bringing in K John Hall and are solid in the return game.

Jets come into this one off a terrible preseason where they lost starting QB Chad Pennington. Now with Pennington on the shelf old tymer Vinny Testaverde will take over the offense. During the offseason the Jets lost there big play man at WR Laveranues Coles to the Skins but did replace him with veteran Curtis Conway. Although conway is a solid wideout this was a downgrade for the Jets has Conway doesn't have near the big play possibilities as Coles did. Although this could be a break out year for WR Santana Moss who can be the playmaker the Jets need but this is yet to be seen. Back again is RB Curtis Martin who had another solid season last year but was banged up a bit and saw less of the ball but backup LaMont Jordan done a find job. Again the Jets should have a solid set of backs. The offensive line is still pretty much intact and should be a capable unit but are very servicable. On defense there were quite a few changes from a year ago. The jets used most of its draft choices on improving the defense and Dewayne Robertson should have an impact right away. But the jets did lose some talent from a year ago in Damien Robinson and NIck Ferguson in the secondary. With no major moves to replace these guys the jets secondary could be suspect. I dont look for the Jets D to improve much at all from last years numbers if at all. On special teams the Jets lost ace return man Chad Morton and also Kicker John Hall and Punter Matt Turk. With no major move to replace Morton either Santana Moss or Albert Johnson will probably return kicks this year , more than likely Johnson as Moss will be a big part of the jets offense. Looks like a downgrade for the Jets special teams from a year ago.

Looked over this game for a while and there are some tough angles. Vinny was a great QB in his prime and still can play but he was never very versatile and is even less now, this could be a problem for the jets as the Skins will come from everywhere on the field with blitz's. I also dont see the JETS havin alot of team speed and the Skins for the most part can fly on defense. The skin's offense didn't look very comfortable this preseason and struggled to put together any consistent drives, but i can see some gaps in this jets defense and think that the Skins will be able to make some plays on offense. Big question will ofcourse be how will Ramsey play and i think Spurrier will keep it kinda simple and try and get ramsey into a groove and ofcourse will throw the ball 65% of the time. Think Skins have the speed advantage on both sides of the ball and even with the problems the skins may have on offense can't make a case for a go against here. So gonna ride the Home Fav and watch the Skin's better athletes get em a win here.
