Hello....

I was fortunate enough to have collected on both Friday wagers as Denver -5.5 points got by Houston 31-14 while the final score on the Sea/SD contest was Seattle 26-20 which of course was OVER the total of 37.5

BALT & Det?OVER 35.5

Saturday 8/28 8 pm est

3***Play Selection

When 8 pm est rolls around Saturday evening, most of the football world will be grabbing their remote controls from their wives and switching onto CBS to watch the nationally televised re-match between New England and Carolina, not me however as I believe this contest taking place in Baltimore will be much more exciting and insightful to watch.

After all, what can be more exciting than watching two offenses that should be able to score on the opposing defense almost at will, and especially when you?ve got a few duckies on the OVER in the contest?

The Lion defense can?t stop the run as evidenced by them allowing an average of over 150 yards in each of their past two outings against Cleveland and Pittsburgh and things won?t get any better this week as they face a Raven rushing machine that rambled for 196 yards just last week against Philly in a losing effort.

To make matters worse for the Detroit defense, linebackers Boss Bailey, James Davis and rookie Alex Lewis are all listed as OUT for this contest while DE Cory Redding is listed as doubtful, Raven QB?s Kyle Boller and Kordell Stewart will probably look good in this contest to the home crowd as the Lions are also pretty banged up in their defensive secondary with CB?s Chris Cash, Fernando Bryant, Dre Bly and Safeties Brian Walker and Brock Marion all listed as questionable.

Meanwhile, if this Lion offense gels like I think they will during the regular season they very well could surprise everyone by stealing the divisional crown, QB Joey Harrington should see much more action in this affair then he has thus far this preseason and should be able to move the ball downfield when playing toss and catch with WR?s Roy Williams and Charles Rogers who both have wayyyyy too much size and speed for Baltimore?s beat up defense to handle.

Baltimore has been without CB Chris McAlister who is not signed and in camp as of yet and lost the services of CB Dale Carter and LB Peter Boulware early on as well as losing DE Marques Douglas last week for the next four to six weeks and all of that is in addition to having CB Fred Weary, DB Corey Fuller and DE Anthony Weaver all listed as questionable against Detroit.

Thus the reason that Baltimore appears on the verge of allowing retired CB Deion Sanders to infiltrate their roster and play nickel back this season, football junkies will recall that ?Neon Deion? was last seen on the field of play in a Redskin uniform and hasn?t played since the 2000 season, naturally Sanders will probably wait and make the signing official towards the conclusion of training camp and thus avoid having to sweat and toil during these meaningless pre-season games.

Both HC?s in this affair are seasoned veterans who know by now who their opening regular season starters will be, thus I would expect them to allow their starters to play together as much as possible in this contest as a means to build continuity and then in all likelihood play their starters sparingly next week in the finale to avoid injury and to allow bumps and bruises to heal.

KEY STAT:

Baltimore has exceeded the posted total in 6 of their last 8 home pre-season games and that includes the Ravens first home pre-season contest this year against Atlanta which came in under the total with Baltimore winning 24-0.

take care
