Here we go again fellas

I managed to move on to Week 5 with relative ease. K.C. simply destroyed the 49ers, not even close. I knew things were lookin' good after the 1st Q. Just wish all the games were that easy!

Unfortunately, not too many people were eliminated in my pools this past weekend. Cincy and Miami were the big losers but not too many folks were on them so back to the drawing board again.

For Week #5 I am looking at the following teams, not in any particular order yet

New Orleans against Tampa Bay: The Bucs season is probably coming to and end, sadly. The Saints have been competitive in all the games they played so far.

Carolina against Cleveland: The Browns and Charlie Frye showed a lot of poise last week but that was against Da Raiders. The Panthers is looking to get back on track and could ill-afford to lose this type of game.

and obviously the biggest spread on the board

Indy against Tennessee. I still have them but I would prefer to save them for later on when the going gets tough.

If you guys have strong leans for a team, let's hear it.

Good luck to all as always and Surviving we shall!

I might go with Indy here.

Makes it a free week... and remember... the last 3 weeks the Colts could be resting starters... so dont want to save them too long...

Havent made a decision yet though...

Certainly valid points Jay

Although ideally I would like to use the Colts in Week 13 against the Titans again in Tennessee. Not looking that far ahead yet but that would be sweet. By then there shouldn't be too many people left, hopefully.

Anyone looking at the Viking and/or Bears this week ?

I would take New England........No way they lose at home to the Dolphins.

In my opinion the Dolphins are the second worst team in the NFL.

The three on my list are NE, Indy and Carolina. Leaning towards being safe and taking Indy but it looks like a good spot for Carolina as well.

I think Carolina is a good play here. Starting to finally get into groove now that they are getting healthy, and always seems they (especially Delhomme) come thru when pressure is on and their backs are against the wall. they still haven't looked solid and have done just enough to get by, think this could be a breakout week for them. Catching Cleveland in a good spot coming back across country and back on the road for another tough game and some key injuries which should supply a little more ease to Delhomme and the passing game.

Good as spot as any to take carolina this week considering they have a pretty rough stretch coming up after this game.

Indy is they easy out and like a "free week" this week. I've learned and always know the key to survivor is not to focus on teams you can save, find yourself out of it if we start planning to far ahead. I always do look 2 weeks ahed though to look for favorable schedule situations and take into factor who most people will pick the current week and next 2 weeks.

Indy falls into a favorable "pass" situation for me this week for one simple reason. Everyone who still has them will most likely take them this week. I like Carolina and their situation enough to take them over Indy and save Indy for 2 weeks from this Sunday For these reasons:

1. Catching Carolina at the right time and going against Cleveland at the right time. Two teams heading opposite ways right now and travel & injuries will hurt Browns big time this week. Who's gonna contain Smith & Johnson?

2. Can't rely on using Carolina again for at least 5-6 weeks due to schedule and cannot save anyone for that long anyways.

3. Indy has Bye week next week and returns home after bye Oct. 22 vs. Washington. Indy is 7-3 ats off bye weeks last 10. Great spot to use Indy when most likely at least 90% of the people in your pool probably already used them and it is a tough week if you look at the schedule. And from the looks of it no easy pick ems for Indy til Nov. 12. Could be a good week for Indy to pick up a nice home win vs. Washington and a good week for us if we are ones of the few in our pools who still have them to use on what looks to be a difficult week for survivor.

Already looking into dallas for next week at home vs. Houston. Depends on who things go this week for both of them and many other factors. But at least for right now looking like a very strong survivor pick for me as it's a good and right time for them to be clicking finally with a tough stretch ahead after that game for them.

Gonna look more into this stuff and will check back. Follow your post every week and appreciate yours and everyones input. I don't post much but felt the urge to let ya know what I'm thinkin. hope it helps.

I'd stay away from New England. They always play close with Miami. Miami beat them last year and the year before on MNF. both wins by just a point, but tom brady has a difficult time with Miami's defense. BTW, I picked NE to win outright last week.

Pool started with 775, down to 439 (Philly loss would have been nice), I still have 3 picks

These are the teams that get consideration (IMO)...

Jax - playing Jets at home after 2 tough road losses, I look for J-ville to win big. Probably won't play them for 2 reason - 1) I am betting on them (I don't bet on my suicide team because if they lose, I am out double). Throw in the fact that they still have home games against Tenn/Houston. I think there will be a better spot down the road

Car - I will most likely take carolina with 1 of my picks. They have 1 cupcake left at home and that is TB. I do not see too many more good spots for them. Back to back road games for Cleveland on opposite ends of the country, meanwhile, it is a second straight home game for Car

Bears - can't see them losing to Buffalo, but they have many more easy games left... SF, Det, GB, TB. I wouldl use them later

Pats - They have Det and Houston at home later in the season, will probably wait, altough Miami is in a brutal 3 game road trip. NE also plays GB and Tenn on the road, so I can save them

Colts - I hate taking a team that I know everyone is going to take, but they do not have an easy schedule ahead. Besides Tenn and Houst (both on the road) they have a tough schedule. They have Miami at home, but that is the last game of the season, it may not mean a thing to them if they win or lose.

My choice of picks in order
INDY
CAR
PATS
BEARS
JAX

Leans (I just don't trust these team enough yet) - Minnesota - I stay away from the because of the 'due' factor. If Detroit loses this game, they could be 0-8. Detroit has an offense and Minnesota has not been tested with an offensive team yet

NO - I can't see them losing... 2nd game in the dome and TB has a QB, that doesn't know anything except how to hold a clipboard. I may move them up to a pick, gotta look at their schedule

SF -Oakland and Detroit may fight to see how loses the most games before winning one. I do not trust SF, but I think they will improve by the end of the year. I think they will be the Miami of last year, I see this team making me a lot money towards the end of the season, plus they still play GB, Det, Zona

I used kc as well last week, so far AZ, Balt and Miami i have used........

I've been looking at the Vikings and I'm surprised no one else has mentioned them....Detroit scoring 34 last week must of scared some folks.....

I dont foresee the Vikings losing 3 straight and 2 consecutive home games......

also looking at the jags

i wont use carolina, b/c no one has used them yet and I see the majority jumping on that ship.....and I'll be rooting for the first major pool buster of the season.

If you haven't used the Bears i would wait until Miami visits Soldier Field week 9 first week of November

so right now vikings and jags are the top 2 I'm looking at

I am staying away from the Vikes for 2 reasons...
1) Their offense is enept. They can't score points and I do not like picking teams that can't score. A defensive turnover could the outcome of this game.

2) Detroit is desperate - The Vikes and buffalo are about the only chance the Lions have for a win in a long time.

I think there are more solid picks this week then the Vikes.
