Since it has been Raining and i have been unable to Tee it up there is way to much time on my hands so i came up with this interesting angle. Home teams and how far their opponent has to travel. I broke it down into 4 catagorys. 0-500,501-1000,1001-1500 and over 1500 miles.
Home Teams with the opponent traveling 0-500 are 10 -13 ATS 43%
501-1000 20-19 51%
Now here it gets strange,
1001-1500 9-17 35%
but over 1500 Miles they are 19-9 68%
So if you used this there would be 7 plays this weekend.
Visiting teams at 1000-1500 miles
Houston,Tampa
Home teams at over 1500 miles
Stl,Den,NYG,Sea and Oakland.
There seems to be some sound plays.Interesting.

You also have to take into account what time the game is being played, and also if the travel is west>east or east>west.

Let's say you have TB, coming off a bye traveling to SD, playing the Sunday night game, there's no advantage for SD.
Now take OAK traveling to BALT playing a 1pm game. To the Oak players still feels like 10am. Big advantage for BAL.

There has been several of those games this year. SD at Miami, SEA at BUF, oak at N.O just to name a few.

I also concur, on the direction of the travel. East coast teams coming west, play later in the day, which is less disruptive. West coast teams going east, especially for 1 PM (est ) games, its essentially a 10 A.M. game for the west coast folks.

Many Sun's its tough for me to get up at 10 AM just to watch them, let alone what the players face. Getting up before 7 AM to travel from hotel, dress, warm up etc.

There have been articles in past years examining this and while the team strength can influence the numbers, E to W was the loser.
