Woodson.........being Canadian and growing up playing hockey I can tell you that hockey is life. Of course I may be a tad bias.
Anyway, seriously........here is what to do when you go to your first NHL game. But note, if ya go to a LEAF game it will cost you about 900 bucks, a Thrashers game may be a tad cheaper
1) Arrive one hour before game starts.
2) Buy a program, I don't care how old ya are, you just have to have at least one momento for going to your first game.
3) Since you arrived early, go down to ice level and watch the teams warm up. You will be amazed how big the guys are, and just how fast that puck moves. Keep in mind when warming up the goalie they are shooting the puck at about 60-70%. And they are always shooting it low. You will not stay in NHL long if you shoot high on the goalie in warm up.
4) I assume tickets to a Thrashers game are cheap. But treat yourself and try to get some "great seats". If can't afford it then no worries, but for first game try to get as close to the action as ya can. No sport has better trash talk then hockey.
5) You will be amazed at the speed of the game. Hockey on TV is terrible, watching live is totally different. Plus watching it live you see much more. For example "changing on the fly". Watch the benches change players, cool stuff.
I could go on.......
Just go to a game....you will not regret it.
Oh and if you want to watch some incredible hockey, watch Canada win the Gold in the Vancouver Winter Olympics.:00hour
