So far this season, I'm 5-3 (not all plays posted at this site) and -1 unit due to poor money management. Here are my plays for tonight, still considering a couple other leans though.
Wyoming +7
This should be a good game, USC returns 3 starters while Wyoming returns all five. USC is tough at home while Wyoming didn?t play well on the road last year. So why Wyoming?
I think USC will probably take this game, but I look for a good Wyoming team to keep it within seven. Wyoming has a couple of excellent forwards in Josh Davis and Marcus Bailey and they?re fired up for this pre-season tournament, they feel it?s a great opportunity to get some national attention and the respect they feel that they deserve.
Also, I read where Clancy and Blumental were suspended for USC?s exhibition finale last Friday, so they might come out a little slow.
Missouri ?23.5
I?d be very surprised if Kareem Rush and Clarence Gilbert didn?t power 8th ranked Missouri to a 40+ point win over Tennessee-Martin.
Loyola Marymount +1.5 (first half)
New Coach Steve Aggers seems to be turning the Loyola Marymount program around just like he did at Eastern Washington. L M have seven returning seniors and one of the top recruiting classes in the WCC. They went 1-1 in their two exhibition games, defeating Korabel-Ukraine 85-58 and losing to Pro Hoops Australia All Stars 67-65 at the buzzer.
Samford starts the season with 10 freshmen and 5 sophomores.
Samford played one exhibition game, beating VASDA Blue team 70-63 at home last Thursday. In that game they shot 50% from the field but in the first half they hit only 37% and committed 10 turnovers.
This game is being played in Alabama but in Tuscaloosa, on the University of Alabama?s home court.
Samford is 1-4 against teams from California.
Aggers is a good coach, I think he?ll have Loyola Marymount better prepared and they?ll come out strong against a very junior Samford team, which will make a lot of mistakes early.
I also like Iowa ?33 over Md Eastern Shore, but I haven?t seen a line up yet at my books on this one. With Iowa at home and Reggie Evans (the nation?s top rebounder last year) , Luke Recker and two other starters back, Md Eastern Shore is in trouble.
Their last meeting, granted it was ten years ago, turned into a 101-45 Iowa rout.
