First of all NIT's are tougher to capp because you don't know how teams are taking it not being invited to the Senior Prom but to the Sophomore Hop.The Cuse feels slighted because they are the 1st BE team to win 20 games and not go to the big dance. But after losing 9 of there last 13 games they cannot complain. So there happy to be home and loved knocking off upstate neighbor St Bonnie. There was a lot of infighting on this team.Williams doesn't give up the ball,McNeil quit, came back, quit, came back and I heard this weekend in Glen Falls he is transferring to Kenty Weslayan.Preston had the eye problem and finally the other nite vs Bonnie found his shot.
Boe can't wait for this season to end.Carmelo Anthony and McNamara[see hightops]are blue chip recruits coming to the Cuse.Edelin can play the pt.Cuse will be loaded next yr.
Now Butler won 26 games and the concensus by everyone is they got screwed by the NCAA dance com. They are playing foe something tonite.
Hainje,Jackson, and Cornette can all out and out play.Robisch is 6'11 and Cornette 6'10.Miller can shoot like Preston from row 3.Butler plays motion offense and will adjust it to attack the Cuse 2-3 zone.I think they have the size, patience, and shooters to disect the zone. They do not have the "greyhounds" that the Cuse has but Butler won't run tonite with them.
Ball movement will be the key tonite. And with their inside height the Cuse zone has to collaspe so Miller should get some good looks from behind the arc.And Butler has 2 guys off the bench,Munserez and Archey that have hit 52 and 48 tre's.Their Butlers zone busters. And Butler never turns the ball over.Cuse won't press so the only TO's will come in the half court offense. And they never turn it over there.[hardly]
Butler's defense is ranked 3rd in the nation with a 57% scoring avg.Granted they don't play the Cuse schedule but they held their opponents 17 times to under 60 pts.Thats great defense anywhere.
Butler has almost more wins on the road then the Cuse at home. They are 14-2.Ats only 7-5.Cuse is 15-5 at home and 9-9 ats.But Cuse is 46-7 at home the past 3 yrs. That's a big stat and probaly scared everyone that I was close to convincing to take Butler.
But I'll take Butler +2 because they want it more. Not saying the Cuse doesn't want it but many feel Butler is better then 4 or 5 teams in the Sweet Sixteen. And lets not forget 2 yrs ago Butler had Florida beat'en if Miller didn't hit that shot. And lyr beat Wake in the 1st round and lost to zona in the next game. This team has many seniors that didn't get invited to their prom. But I think they will settle for the Soph. Hop and win it all.
Strong play on Butler.Think they win this outright by 5 or 6 pts. GL
Small play on Minny.Think they control the bds and Minny at home is tough.

Only drawback i see is that the dome is so hard to shoot the ball well in for visitors. Especially for a team like Butler who has probably not been in any dome this year, but one as difficult as the carrier Dome. look at what happened to the Bonnies. A 3 point team shooting team who could hit nothing in the dome.

I am hoping that Butler pounds the ball inside where the shooting is not such a big deal. No way the Faust or Mcneil can match up with Butler's big men.

twofingers, thats always a problem when you play in the Dome.Half the stad. has a curtain around it to make it look somewhat smaller. It all comes down to depth perception.
My teams over the yrs always had a good shooter. When the sectionals and regionals start you are always playing in big places like West Point,Marist,Glenn falls Civic center. The baskets are so much further away then the walls of gyms that we play in all yr.
But I always found good shooters will adjust.Your marginal ones will have more problems shooting because of the depth perception.
About 10 yrs ago I'm playing the defending state champion at marist to get into the final 4.My kid Lario hits 7 tre's there and thats his 1st time in a big gym with no backdrop.
Your good shooters will always arise.
I hope the hell Miller is reading this tonite. GL
