How the hell does this happen? Especially Fred Taylor. He's the 6th leading rusher in the NFL and 4th in the AFC. He's averaging 5.1 yds per rush so it's not like he's doing it off of high carries.

No jags and no Tampa Bay bucs going to Hawaii.

But Mia does have 1, figure that out.

I guess they figure making the playoffs takes care of the Jax and TB fans.

Thought about this at work today. my 1st thoughts were to play T.B. and Jax. If you can't put 1 guy from these teams in the Pro Bowl, it's a shame.
I, for one would hate to have to face theses guys after hearing this.

Pro Bowl selections have been a joke for years.

Players vote for their buddies.

It is not and has not been for years the true indicator of those who are best at their positions.

Rumor for years is that when a players big bonus is tied to a Pro Bowl selection the fellow players do what they can to get that player the free bucks.

It is a popularity contest...

Sexlexia...
I could easily be totally wrong here...

...but do the players have a say in this at all?

I thought it was all "fan" driven...by voting from the outside?

Either way, AFC RB is going LT, Parker (or v-v)...then Addai, Lewis...then Fred.

Not saying it's right, or wrong...but tell me that's not how Mr. J. Public sees things.

EDIT: And now I've actually looked at the teams...
...Marion Barber for NFC, who av'd about 10 carries a game?! In front of Grant, Jacobs or Portis?!! :scared

The Pro Bowl teams are determined by the collective votes of fans, players and coaches. Each group's vote counts one-third as the rosters are determined.

Pro Bowl: Sean Taylor elected as Brady, Favre head teams

Pro Bowl: Sean Taylor elected as Brady, Favre head teams

By Nate Davis, USA TODAY
Sean Taylor may be gone, but he clearly has not been forgotten.
The Washington Redskins free safety, who died Nov. 27, a day after he was mortally shot in his Miami-area home, was elected as a starter for the NFC's Pro Bowl squad Tuesday.

SEE THE PRO BOWL ROSTERS: AFC | NFC

"It is well-deserved," Redskins center Casey Rabach said. "If he would have been able to finish the season, he would have been in there. It just shows the respect everybody around the league had for him and what a great player he was."

The Pro Bowl teams are determined by the collective votes of fans, players and coaches. Each group's vote counts one-third as the rosters are determined. Taylor was tops among NFC free safeties in terms of fan voting (258,544).

Taylor, who also made the team in 2006 and was leading the NFC with five interceptions at the time of his death, will be replaced at a later date.

Playing for a winner certainly enhanced the chances a player would be Honolulu-bond. The New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers ? all teams that have at least 12 wins and have secured first-round playoff byes ? grabbed one-third of the Pro Bowl roster slots (28 of 84).

The Cowboys will have a game-high 11 representatives, including quarterback Tony Romo and receiver Terrell Owens. The Patriots and AFC West champion San Diego Chargers are each sending eight players.

New England quarterback Tom Brady, who wasn't selected last year, will be making his fourth appearance thanks to his surreal stats (4,235 passing yards, 45 TDs, 119.7 rating) for the perfect Patriots and will start for the AFC. He will be opposed by Green Bay's Brett Favre, who earned his ninth trip.

Favre received the most fan votes (1,140,863); Brady was second (1,037,608).

Rookie sensation Adrian Peterson, one of seven Vikings on the team, :mj07: will be the NFC's starting tailback. He leads the conference with 1,278 rushing yards despite missing two full games and part of another with a knee injury.

Fellow freshmen Patrick Willis, a 49ers linebacker who leads the league in tackles, and Dallas kicker Nick Folk will join Peterson.

Texans linebacker DeMeco Ryans earned his first trip to Hawaii and said the honor eclipsed the Defensive Rookie of the Year award he nabbed last season.

"To be in the Pro Bowl, this is the biggest accomplishment that you can make personally as a player because you want to be touted as one of the best in the NFL," Ryans said.

Ryans was one of 18 AFC Pro Bowl rookies. The NFC will send 11 first-timers.

But not everyone received welcome news.

Jacksonville's Fred Taylor, whose 1,091 rushing yards are sixth in the league, was snubbed once again. He ranks 18th in league history with 10,604 yards, yet has never made a Pro Bowl in 10 seasons, a record for a player with that level of production.

"I've always felt I was of Pro Bowl-caliber," Taylor, who's eclipsed 100 yards on the ground each of his last four games, said last week. "It's never been up to me."

Not only will Taylor be staying home, so will all of his teammates, even though the Jaguars own the league's fifth-best record at 10-4. The New York Jets, Detroit Lions and entire NFC South also failed to place anyone in the all-star event.

Other players who didn't make the cut include Baltimore's Willis McGahee (1,197 rushing yards, fourth in the league), Cincinnati's Chad Johnson (1,265 receiving yards, fourth), New England's Wes Welker (96 receptions, second), Houston's Mario Williams (13 sacks, second) and Cleveland's Derek Anderson (26 TD passes, fifth).

The Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, Feb. 10.
