Just FYI -- you might already know all this, but...

John Eisenberg was a columnist for the Baltimore Sun for several years (I moved to b-more in '96 and I think he was working there then).

Last year some time he wrote an article saying he was taking time off because some publisher wanted him to write a book about a horse (trying to cash in, no doubt, on the success of Seabiscuit). Just FYI, if you want to look for that in the future. I think he'll return to the Sun after he finishes work on that book.

Thank for the "Cotton Bowl" reccommendation. I'm keeping my eyes open for some summer reading, so maybe I'll check it out.

As far as his columns went, I don't remember them being all that great.

I get Eisenberg mixed up with another guy, but I think they were both guys who would tell you the day *after* a football game why team A couldn't possibly stay with team B but never go out on a limb before the game. One season, IIRC, Eisenberg was unconcious against the number in a little "Our Picks" section. After the season he wrote some column touting his record and saying how he had it all figured out. To the best of my recollection, the next season they stopped carrying the column at mid season when everyone was under .500.
