no argument, except that you don't use the w/l record to make bets, you go to the bottom line and that is it.
i do it sometimes, i will go to sportsnetwork just to see how their projected score agrees or disagrees with me. on some ocassions, like when i need more ammo to make a decision, i will read their portion on the offense/defense or whatever i am interested in. i will go to cbs to see this fellow's trends, just to get an idea what to be on the lookout for.
i do read nolan's selections and reasons most of the time, except he has been coming in late the last few weeks, and by that time i am already comitted.
this brings up another question, which is:
why don't we have access to reply/agree/disagree with nolan? nolan's recommendations should be interactive in my opinion. this is probably something between jack and nolan, and i have no idea how either feels about it, although i think nolan may be receptive.
getting back to the issue: we are getting pretty good exchanges on the match-up forum, with bubba leading, providing stats and throwing in his opinions as well. it is probably the best interactive handicapping tool at mjs, mainly because it is controlled, yet you can come in, make your point and counter-point. a very neat, controlled environment, unlike the pigskin, where a mildly worded thread will get buried in a hurry, regardless of its content.
now, bubba is doing a great job; it was a good idea and he is filling the shoes to perfection. yet, we don't judge bubba on his record, and why should we, or why should we want bubba to post his record? see what i am getting at?
aside from that there have been times when i (and probably others) wanted to challenge one or two of nolan's key plays, but just bringing up his selections and comments, as i have done previously, is not specific enough to get the reader challenged on one or two specific games and get a variety of intelligent responses.
there is a whole set of issue here and i am sure jack, nolan and others involved will come up with a good plan to make mj even better.
cheers,
pep
