How can Syracuse not offer Norm Chow their head football coaching job? The new AD is from USC to me it's a no brainer? Any thoughts? Coach Tags

So. Cal
i'd be shocked if they dont hire him as well but no doubt in my mind hes not as successful as a head coach as he is as an off- coordinator.

the list of qb's who've gone pro under him as OC is amazing.......think that streak slows down once he becomes a HC

I wouldn't hire Chow as head coach. Remember at USC he has 5 star recruits all over the place. USC has 3 blue chip recruits behind Leinart. Chow makes $650,000 a year (highest paid coordinator in NCAA) and USC alumni bought him a beach house AND a car of his choice. Why leave? He has it easy at USC.

But Chow really wants to be HC but he hates to talk to media and doesn't like to recruit. Not good if you want to be a HC. Recruiting is half the battle. Look at all the awesome freshman and sophomores that played for USC in the NC game. You need to recruit and be good at it to be on top. Chow doesn;t have it. I also heard from people close to program that Chow gives BAD interviews.

The guy who will be an awesome HC is Orgeron who is going to OLE MISS. That guy is AWESOME and he is bringing the exact carbon copy of what Carroll did to USC. Sad to see him go but happy for him at the same time.

I hate to say it but Chow wouldn't succeed as a HC unless he has the right people around him. Scott layed out the best reasons, especially in terms of not liking to talk.

The best thing for him is if Carroll left & he took over USC but then I still think he might not do as well. I look at Chow as a great assistant to the main man but not the main man. Who knows though, the same was said about Belli from the Pats & look what happened.

No way he would go to San Fran. They have cap issues & stupid owners. He would be better off at Cuse compared to the 49ers.

The Ravens are interested in him as offensive coordinator after firing Matt Cavanaugh. Might be a good fit for him.

only ego and money makes people move upward ... so all you have to know about Chow is how ego driven is he (which i dont)--hes BMOC at USC in many ways--best talent, nice HC to work with, ideal weather... If you cant communciate, you cant hoodwink the press and glad hand alumni and schmooze, and these days thats counts as much as anything, otherwise U will be run outta Dodge ... as someone who's been an ass. coach for much of his coaching life, I always asked myself "why am I doing it?" (for the sake of helping kids) and "am I happy?" (99% time yes, hehe)

It will be Chow's call, someone will give him a job for a lil more money, but IMHO, he'd be just another mercenary to leave ...

How much is enuff in life, what all does one need? Latrell needed to feed his family and not settle for 8 million, I mean that's hamburger helper type scratch ...

My complete guess is Chow will leave if he finds a decent fit

the rumors in jacksonville have the jaguars wanting to throw some serious money at chow because they need somebody to mold leftwich and he seems like the perfect guy.....i agree he has it perfect at SC, but he would have it good in j-ville as well....plus i'm an Auburn alum and don't want SC to have Chow any more...

Pete Carroll said yesterday he is staying and NOT interested in NFL. Bad news for CFB!

This guy is one of if not the hardest working coaches in the business. At the Orange Bowl 20min. before the game, Carroll was calling all his 5 star recruits and then 45min. after the OB ended, he called the recruits again! The guy just wants to get the best players out their and is never satisfied! He also said he will be working his a$$ off this week recruiting and close out on the recruits. SIMPLY AMAZING!

Matt Leinart is 50/50 on leaving/staying and as of right now, I do not think Chow will be leaving either. Thus far, only job Chow would have left for was Stanford. Chow is very very picky about where he wants to coach at and maybe that is huge reason why he is still an OC.

Chow coming into Baltimore for interview on Monday. Hope he gets the job cause the Ravens need some fresh ideas on how to run an offence.
