Arizona of course. . . I've had the opportunity to see this team in scrimmages and their game against EA Sports. I could hype them up all I want in a biased sort of way, but here's how I think we can win some $$$ on them early:

First a couple notes about this year's team. They have gelled very early on. . . their passing and knowledge of where everyone else was on the floor was enough evidence of this for me. Their freshman are extremely talented, but made several mistakes on the offensive end of the floor. A little hesitation at times as they are getting used to the college game. Still, I couldn't believe how well they played as a team. . . I know it was an exhibition game, but I've seen previous exhibition games and never saw a team that played this well together this early. . . including last year's team.

So bet or fade Arizona all you want for the first few games, what I will be looking for is their totals. I will not hesitate to bet the over early and often in their games. Their full court pressure for every single second of every game should allow for even the 200 mark to be attainable if their opponent is a decent shooting team (especially shooting the 3 as Arizona has never really guarded against the 3 very well and it doesn't appear to have changed this year. . . they instead focus on collapsing on the inside). I expect this full court pressure to become a solid force towards the middle of the season, but they are still working out the bugs which will allow their opponent to drive the court and take several high percentage shots.

Will be looking long and hard at their first game of the year a week from Saturday. . . nice to see familiar faces around here and lets all hit our bookies hard this year!!!

Congrats to those who took the doggies tonight. . . unfortunately I didn't play either game.

Also wanted to add that Walton and Stoudamire will not play in any of the exhibitions until the regular season begins. . . not sure if this will help anybody, but should be mentioned. They certainly didn't appear to need these two on Tuesday, but could come into play against Western Kentucky.

What about the ASU Sun Devils???;)

Rob Evans turned down that big contract at New Mexico for something, and this year is the start of it. Evans calls the ASU backcourt the best in the PAC 10:eek: , they had an outstanding recruiting class headed by Karl Malone"starter kit" Ike Diogu. Jamal Hill turned down Kansas as a JUCO transfer to play at ASU Not to mention Tommie Smith. This team has suprise written all over it...thoughts?

LOL Marra. . .

Evans can say all he wants, doesn't mean its true! I'll be rooting hard for ASU as I have always liked their teams in the past. . . especially before I went to U of A. Only team I have ever disliked with a passion in the Pac 10 is UCLA. . .

Will be looking forward to your thoughts/views when ASU gets ready to play their first game.

my 2nd biggest bet of year is Zona +175 to win pac-10 ....

oregon looks solid (luke R is just awesome), ucla will be good, not sure if anyone else can challenge ...

lutes always been my fave coach behind Dean ... I saw a coaching video of his once, excellent stuff ... love this team, unselfish to max ... last 2 years ive hit both ncca winners for futures, will take zona 5/1 too but not for the $$ i got on pac-10 bet ...

if ur interested in betting them to win pac1o- tourney 3/2, i know a site ... that bet is too much a crap shoot, tho with their depth they got to be big fave

thanx, gregg

pt1gard,

Sounds like a great bet to me. . . unfortunately, I never play future bets unless its a near future bet! Just too much that can happen before the Pac 10 season. . . although I find it hard to believe that UA won't be in it from the get go.

Another betting angle for U of A that I forgot to mention:

With their obvious depth, they should be a great 2nd half bet against teams without much depth. This is especially true with Arizona's full court press. . . one scenerio in particular that I'll look for is a team coming off a hard Thursday game that has to play Arizona on Saturday. Could produce some nice profits this year. . . we'll see

Did you know. . .

Did you know. . .

that Arizona's 28 point lead at the half against Western Kentucky came with Gardner leading the way with ZERO points.

Not to mention that the other backcourt guard, Stoudamire is still out with a bad ankle.

Anybody else watching this game with me?
