Wow! That is so hard to watch. I?ve been fortunate to have visited it twice and it is truly a magnificent structure.
Lots of steps to climb to get to the top, but you?re rewarded with amazing views of Paris.
Just read where they said the next hour will go a long way in determining if it can be saved. 400 firefighters are there, but I Imagine that since it sits on an island in the middle of a river it?s been difficult to battle the blaze.
Hope they can save what?s left of it.

I can't imagine how many Americans dont give a shit. Our sense of our own history is abysmal, let alone other countries.

Way too many that?s for should. I am as anti religion as you will find, but things like this and the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque in Istanbul are iconic structures that hold lots of history. Human history. The stories they tell are the stories of all of us.
As humans, we are all connected regardless of our race, color or creed.

It really is hard to see. Fortunate also to see with my 4 children and heard from all of them in the past 2 hours how sad they are as well. European history really is amazing and it sticks with you. But, won't say anymore because penguinfan will come in mocking because of money spent and bragging, so I will leave it at that.

When it comes to you, it really is all about me.

Thanks.

More to the topic, I saw on the news that one of the many artifacts in this place was a thorn from the crown that Jesus wore on the cross.

Several questions arise, how would you possibly authenticate something like that?

Why just a thorn? Was the crown (supposedly) broken apart for some reason?

How in the world would something like that be left out to get destroyed? Wouldn't it be locked behind armed guards 24/7?

How would they have kept it for so long without it just disintegrating to dust? Sure, we could preserve it with modern methods but those weren't available in 10 seconds AD.

I mean, do people really believe it was from the crown Jesus wore? Doesn't this make you wonder if all the other artifacts they claim to have are just BS?

Seems far fetched.

I beg to differ, seems like there are quite a few Americans who are presently trying to ERASE our history. :0008 Sometimes by just changing the NAMES.
