We are such bad people in the USA, look what we're doing now to get ahead in the Olympics. This article is Total BS in my opinion but read it and see if they really have a beef (no pun intended) with us. I can't believe someone would make such ludicrous comments on the record.
Olympics: Team Sabotaged by Food?
By Cathryn Conroy
How would YOU like to have a steady diet of hamburgers and sandwiches? That may be a normal staple of the American diet, but it's an outrage as far as the athletes and coaches of the team from Belarus, Russia. Team captain Ivan Ryzhenkov, who placed 30th in the 20-km biathlon, is complaining that food is "a major problem." First, the biathletes didn't get dinner for three days, causing the president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, to file a formal protest over the incident. And when they do get food, it's fast food.
The country's deputy sports minister, Alexander Grigorov, told Reuters in Minsk, "Our sportsmen are getting sandwiches...and various hamburgers. But they need normal meat, fresh fruit juices, hot soup." He's actually claiming that the team has been sabotaged by being forced to eat inappropriate food and being deprived of appropriate nutrition. And THAT is why they are performing so badly in the Olympic events. Belarus and the United States are somewhat at odds. Reuters says the U.S. government thinks of Lukashenko as "Europe's last dictator" for his authoritarian style and poor rights record in the former Soviet republic.
